Raising Awareness and Funds for Mammograms

More than 300 people attended the eighth annual Mammograms Annually a Must (M.A.A.M.) luncheon on October 15, 2010. Tis annual event raised $14,000 to support free mammograms for women in our community who cannot aford them. Te chair of the event was Rita Disher and the co-chair was Yvonne McMahon.

Engaging the Next Generation

Te Centra Foundation Connects program was started in 2007 as a way to reach and engage young professionals in the services and programs provided by Centra and the Centra Foundation. Centra Foundation Connects events provide ways for attendees to become familiar with Centra services, learn about the Centra Foundation and network with other area professionals.

Centra Foundation and Jamerson YMCA

Every February, the Centra Foundation partners with the Jamerson Family YMCA to sponsor a community health fair. Te event includes free cholesterol, blood pressure, bone density and PSA screenings. It also includes health information booths, as well as representatives from a wide variety of services such as cancer care, cardiovascular care, mental health, nutritional services, orthopaedic care, rehabilitation and senior services.

Te Centra Foundation supports several local health fairs each year that are open and free to everyone, with more than 20,000 people participating. By partnering with other organizations and hosting health fairs, the foundation continues to enhance health in the community and reach out to people on an individual basis.
