Dr. Anil Chandra Seth will talk about his search for big black holes at the centers of small galaxies using some of the largest tele- scopes on Earth and in space. Seth, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy at the University, will present an illustrated discussion of some of the compelliing mysteries of space and the progress being made in our understanding of them. Anil Chandra Seth Seth summarizes his research this way: "I study the formation and evolution of nearby galaxies by detecting individ- ual stars and clusters of stars whose ages, composition, and motions can be measured.
