Re: Canada Day at Canada Place – Notification of Parking Restrictions and Street Closure

Canada Place, in partnership with the Government of Canada, Port of and with support from the City of Vancouver, is pleased to host Canada Day at Canada Place on Monday, July 1st, 2019. This award-winning event is the largest Canada Day celebration outside our nation’s capital with a combination of indoor and outdoor space at Canada Place and surrounding areas along Canada Place Way from Howe St to Thurlow St.

Please note: Due to the scale of the event, parking restrictions and street closures will be in effect as follows:

Parking restrictions in effect: Friday, June 28th 2019 from 12:00pm to 12pm Wednesday, July 2nd, 2019 ● North side 1000 W Cordova St., from Burrard St. to Thurlow St (4 Parking meters)

Saturday, June 30th 2019 from 3:00pm to 2am Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 ● Both sides 200 Thurlow St., from W Cordova St. to Canada Place Way ● Both sides 800 - 1000 Canada Place Way, from Howe St. to Thurlow St. ● Both sides 200 Howe St., from W Cordova St. to Canada Place Way ● Both sides 800 W Cordova St., from Howe St. to Crosswalk mid-block (three-minute ● Tour Bus Zone) ● Both sides 900 W Cordova St., from Burrard St. to Crosswalk mid-block (temporary taxi zone) ● North side 1000 W Cordova St., from Burrard St. to Thurlow St.

Sunday, July 1 2019 from 7:00PM to 2am Tuesday, July 2nd, 2019 ● West side 300 Seymour from W Cordova St. to Hastings ● Both sides of 500-1000 W Cordova from Richards to Thurlow

Street Closures in effect: Sunday, June 30th, 2019 from 5:00pm to 3am Tuesday July 2nd, 2019 ● 800 - 900 Canada Place Way (1/4 block west of Howe St. to Burrard St.) ● North Side 800 - 900 W Cordova St., from Howe St. to Burrard St ● 1000 Canada Place Way (Burrard St. to Thurlow St.) ● 200 Thurlow St., from W Cordova St. to Canada Place Way ● 200 Howe St from W Cordova to Canada Place Way - Cruise Ship Traffic Only until 4:30pm

Local access to the hotels, parkades (999, 1038 & 1055 Canada Place and 200 Burrard St) and Canada Place cruise ship terminal will be maintained during the day’s events. It is expected access and egress could be restricted at approximately 9:00pm July 1 due to crowds and safety issues.

There will be barricades and Traffic Authority officers located at Howe & Cordova, Burrard & Cordova and Thurlow & Cordova streets beginning at 5:00pm on June 30. Once the street closures have been secured, building of the main stage on Canada Place Way at Canada Place will begin. Please note in and out vehicle traffic for all deliveries will be restricted starting July 1st 9am to July 2nd 2am.

About Canada Day at Canada Place Events:

July 1st Canada Day at Canada Place (11am-6pm) Canada Day Fireworks Show (10:30pm)

Capping off the July 1st celebrations is the Canada Day Fireworks Show at Canada Place at 10:30pm; a two-barge simultaneous fireworks extravaganza viewable from various locations across the city. Optimal viewing locations include:

● Harbour Green Park ● (Vancouver Rowing Club to the 9 o’clock gun) ● Crab Park ● West Vancouver Seawall, between Ambleside and Dundarave ● North Vancouver, Lower Lonsdale Area

Please note the fireworks cannot be seen from English Bay or Spanish Banks. The fireworks soundtrack simulcast is provided by Classic Rock 101 or download Port Metro Vancouver’s free mobile app for anywhere access.
