How Does It Work Page V12.Pub NonNon----ProfitProfit Fundraising Opportunities As a qualified 501 (c) (3) nonnon----profitprofit organization, your group will be able to operate a concession stand or portable during events at the Rose Bowl Stadium and be paid a percentage of your net sales for the day. Groups volunteer at UCLA Bruins football games, international soccer matches, the Rose Bowl Game, and other miscellaneous events throughout the year. We currently have groups that have been volun- teering for over 20 years! So How Does It Work? • Your group will be asked to commit to volunteering at all UCLA Bruins football games, the Rose Bowl Game, and all other major events at the Rose Bowl Stadium. • One or two “key” group members will be identified and be responsi- ble for all communication with SodexoMagic representatives. • Seven days prior to the event, you will provide a list of group members who will be volunteering. Due to security reasons, only group members whose names appear on this list will be admitted. • Group members must check-in at the designated “SodexoMagic Group Check-In” location. All group members should plan on arriving within 1/2 hours of the “call time” to ensure proper staff coverage for the event. • Your group, along with a Sodexo-assigned supervisor, will count, and maintain inventory before and throughout the event, and recon- cile inventory sold at the end of the event. • Group members will solely be responsible for counting cash and conducting sales transactions. • At each event where alcohol is sold, each group will need to provide a minimum of two volunteers per assigned stand/portable who have been trained and passed a TEAM Certification class. • Groups are responsible for cleaning the stands and equipment throughout the event, as well as after the event. • Groups are expected to observe the uniform guidelines and wear proper uniforms (black pants, plain white shirt or Honda provided shirt and close-toed, non-slip shoes). • Provide service to all guests by exceeding their expectations, mak- ing a positive impression on them, and making each encounter a pos- itive and memorable “point of expectation”. What will SodexoMagic do? • Provide you with a customer base, the food, supplies, equipment, and training you will need to run a successful operation. • Provide supervision to help ensure your success. • Issue a check within three weeks from event to the group address provided. • Coordinate scheduling for all events. UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA Los Angeles Entity Extraction and Disambiguation in Short Text Using Wikipedia and Semantic User Profiles A thesis submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree Master of Science in Computer Science by Ignacio Zendejas 2014 ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS Entity Extraction and Disambiguation in Short Text Using Wikipedia and Semantic User Profiles by Ignacio Zendejas Master of Science in Computer Science University of California, Los Angeles, 2014 Professor Alfonso F. Cardenas, Chair We focus on entity extraction and disambiguation in short text communications, which have experienced some advances in the last decade, but to this day remain very challenging. Much of the research that has helped advance the field has leveraged crowd-sourced, external knowledge bases like Wikipedia to build probabilistic and machine learning models for entity extraction. That work has its basis in Wikify! and has recently been applied to understanding the topics discussed on social media where a terse, lossy form of communication makes topic detection even more challenging. We expand on this work and show that on the Twitter data experiments we conducted that leveraging a rich, semantic history of entities that users discuss can improve the accuracy of semantically annotating their future social media posts. ii The thesis of Ignacio Zendejas is approved. Wei Wang Junghoo Cho Alfonso F. Cardenas, Committee Chair University of California, Los Angeles 2014 iii To my amazing parents, Maria L. and Felipe Zendejas, for always being there for me. To Mario, Veronica, Felipe Jr., and Alex for all they taught me. To the love of my life, Heidy, and Thiago Ignacio whom we love so much already.
