Date: 29th and 30th March 2019 Venue: Auditorium, Concept Note

Tertiary education has undergone drastic changes in the contemporary times. The education sector has witnessed a huge paradigm shift in pedagogic practices with the increasing role of all its stake holders. At the crossroad of changing times, redefining and reviewing the present tertiary education system becomes necessary. The impact of education needs to be critically assessed and evaluated. This conference aims to revisit the factors responsible for moulding tertiary education in its present form, as well as to analyse the expected outcomes of modernisation of tertiary education in our country. The objective is to transcend the various hierarchies of knowledge domains that permeate the education system resulting in conventional thought processes. This would enable greater accessibility by the learners, and the expansion in the field of research, to generate a larger body of new knowledge practices. In this context, the utilisation of available resources, effective means of outreach and learners’ expectations need to be assessed. An attempt may be made to synthesise global best practices in the context of ’s demographic and socio-economic realties. The impact of curriculum restructuring and evolving of new practices of formative assessment may be accommodated with a vision of providing opportunities for today’s youth to fulfil their potential and to match their expectations. This conference hopes to demystify these issues, negotiate the challenges encountered, and explore the possibilities of redefined education practices. The conference further proposes a viable blueprint that can be applied within the classrooms and beyond. This may be attained through SWOT analysis of prevailing opportunities for employability provided by higher education in its present form. The goal is to envision an ideal teaching-learning environment conducive for the fulfilment of human potential. Schedule 29th March 2019, Friday Day 1
