Ta r s ha E a s o n Nearly 700 women have played in the WNBA since it’s inception and each possess great skill and passion for the game. They have helped to light the torch, carry the mantle and race forward as the league enters it’s 3rd decade of existence. Many did not think this day would come and thankfully, they were wrong! We al r e ady h ave the MVPs for each year. We have a sense of who are the best scorers and have had debate after debate regarding the GOAT of the WNBA. As the 20th season commences, we thought it would be interesting to take a look at who has separated themselves from the pack and holds one of the coveted TOP 20 spots. We are not simply seeking the best scorer or the one with the most championships, but would like to determine who consistently affects the game in multiple ways displaying skill indicative of the best all around play. While, athleticism, excitement, rivalries and breath-taking, game winning play represent what we love about the game, our goal with this study is to remove emotion and bias out of the selection and let the numbers speak. TOP Goal: To develop an objective means of selecting the TOP 20 best ballers in WNBA history Players: Included those selected for the To p 15, 2008 and 2012 Olympic teams, 3 to see and a few other “greats” Measures: Gathered career statistics from the individual player pages ¡ Statistics: PPG, RPG, APG,BPG,MPG and SPG ¡ Data last accessed on 5/20/16 Average rank score (ARS): Each stat is ranked from 1 to number of the players included the study (N=41) and then an average of the rankings for each player is taken.
