TYPHOON SURIGAE

Highlights:

. 10 of 16 States completed household Initial Damage Assessment (IDA); Remaining 6 States on-going. (see Table 2)

. IDA Data Management and Reporting Team continue 24hr. shifts this week in preparation of a report to the National Emergency Committee (NEC) on Friday, 04/23/2021.

. PRCS volunteers continue to assist State Red Cross Disaster Action Teams (RDATs) in conducting IDAs as well as in the distribution of basic relief assistance. o Basic relief assistance is reserved and prioritised for distribution only to those whose homes were destroyed or damaged (Category 2 and Category 1 based on level of damage). o Hygiene promotion is also being done.

. PRCS is targeting first ’s five remote island states of , , , , and with basic relief assistance including hygiene promotion due to their remote locations and limited access to essential services. o Kayangel – Completed 04/20/2020; Peleliu, Angaur, Sonsorol, and Tobi – Pending o NEMO to advise when weather conditions are safe to travel

. PRCS initial meeting with Diplomatic Core – Ambassadors from USA, , Taiwan, and Australia at the Palau Central Hotel in Dngeronger, on 04/22/2021. o US Embassy with blessings from US Ambassador Hennessey-Niland on a Press Release dated 04/20/2021 is providing $100,000 Humanitarian Assistance for the response operations of Typhoon Surigae.

. Three volunteers (2/F, 1/M) assisted at PRCS HQ, assigned to various departments.

. Two volunteers (2/M) assisted Koror State Government with household assessment (IDA) forms in different hamlets.

. State RDATs continue to submit their respective states’ IDA forms via email, messenger, and in-person. Forms are verified to ensure completeness before forwarded to data entry, analysis, and reporting. Incomplete forms are returned to the assessors to complete.
