Cell wall structures (missing in ) of sporopolleninic nature. Cells linearly (Neodesmus, ) or obliquely (Neodesmus) arranged or secondary unicellular. Latin diagnosis: Cellulae cum polis plusminusve obtusis vel truncatis. Structura parietis cellularum (in Neodesmo absens) sporopollenina facta. Cellulae in coenobiis lineare ( in Neodesmo, Pseudodidymocysti) vel oblique (in Neodesmo) dispositae vel secundariter unicellulares. Type: communis (E.HEGEWALD) E.HEGEWALD

Achnanthes BORY

Achnanthes quadricauda TURPIN sensu ICBN St.Louis nom.cons. excl. Achnanthes quadricauda TURP. sensu TURPIN (1828). http://www.bgbm.fu-berlin.de/iapt/nomenclature/code/SaintLouis/0000St.Luistitle.htm Comments: The taxon name and the author name Achnanthes quadricauda TURP. was conserved in ICBN St.Louis but excluding the type and selecting as neotype the type of a validly described taxon ( communis E.HEGEWALD = Desmodesmus communis (E.HEGEWALD) E.HEGEWALD). The created new taxon with the conserved name (ICNB 2001) is invalid, because it is based on the same type as the earlier described Scenedesmus communis E.HEGEWALD.
