DI Women's Track & Field Scholar Athletes of the Year & All Academic DI Women’s Track & Field Scholar Athletes of the Year & All­ Academic Individuals Announced Courtesy: Tyler Mayforth, USTFCCCA July 28, 2016 Follow NEW ORLEANS — Molly Seidel of Notre Dame, Courtney Frerichs of New Mexico and Lexi Weeks of Arkansas have been named the Female Scholar Athletes of the Year in NCAA Division I Track & Field for the 2015­16 season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday. Combining their accomplishments in the classroom and in competition during the recently WOMEN’S SCHOLAR ATHLETE completed academic year, these three women were the most exceptional among a group of AWARD HISTORY 910 women who earned USTFCCCA All­Academic honors. Indoor Track 2016: Molly Seidel, Notre Dame 2015: Emily Sisson, Providence QUICK LINKS: USTFCCCA Division I All­Academic Team 2014: Abbey D’Agostino, Dartmouth 2013: Abbey D’Agostino, Dartmouth Scholar Athletes of the Year were selected as the highest finishing performers at the NCAA 2012: Deborah Maier, California 2011: Jordan Hasay, Oregon Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships who achieved All­Academic 2010: Phoebe Wright, Tennessee status. Those who won individual championship titles ranked higher in the tie­breaking 2009: Sarah Bowman, Tennessee 2008: Sarah Bowman, Tennessee process and cumulative GPA is weighed as the final tiebreaker. Indoor Field 2016: Lexi Weeks, Akransas Separate awards are given to track athletes and field athletes for the indoor and outdoor 2015: Sandi Morris, Arkansas season for a total of four categories, but Weeks swept both field awards, giving us three. 2014: Emily Grove, South Dakota 2013: Brigetta Barrett, Arizona 2012: Brigetta Barrett, Arizona Weeks, a freshman majoring in Chemistry, owned a perfect 4.0 GPA during her first 2011: Brigetta Barrett, Arizona collegiate campaign. The native of Cabot, Arkansas, is the second Razorback pole vaulter in 2010: Kylie Hutson, Indiana State 2009: Kylie Hutson, Indiana State a row to be named Indoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year (Sandi Morris did so last year) 2008: Ellie Rudy, Montana State and first Arkansas athlete to be named Outdoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year. Weeks had Indoor Track & Field a freshman year to remember as she swept the indoor and outdoor pole vault titles with 2007: Sarah Stevens, Arizona State jumps of 4.63m (15­2¼) and 4.50m (14­9), respectively. Outdoor Track 2016: Courtney Frerichs, New Mexico Seidel, a senior majoring in Anthropology with a supplementary major in Arts & Letters Pre­ 2015: Colleen Quigley, Florida State 2014: Laura Roesler, Oregon Health, had a cumulative GPA of 3.545. The Hartland, Wisconsin native is the first female 2013: Abbey D’Agostino, Dartmouth athlete from Notre Dame to be named Indoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year. Seidel was 2012: Abbey D’Agostino, Dartmouth 2011: Sheila Reid, Villanova a double winner at the NCAA Indoor meet, capturing titles at 3000 meters (8:57.86, a near 2010: Lisa Koll, Iowa State seven­second win) and 5000 meters (15:15.21, a near eight­second win). 2009: Jenny Barringer, Colorado 2008: Lisa Koll, Iowa State Frerichs, a senior from Nixa, Missouri, earned a cumulative GPA of 3.85 on a 4.0 scale. Her Outdoor Field 2016: Lexi Weeks, Arkansas actual GPA is 4.17 on a 4.3 scale. Frerichs only had one season of track eligibility left and 2015: Keturah Orji, Georgia turned in a magical season in which she broke the collegiate steeplechase record with her 2014: Julia Ratcliffe, Princeton 2013: Bethany Buell, South Dakota time of 9:24.41 and won the NCAA title. 2012: Brittany Borman, Oklahoma 2011: Trecey Rew, Northwestern State All­Academic Individuals 2010: Evelien Dekkers, Florida 2009: Kim Williams, Florida State 2008: Sarah Stevens, Arizona State Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 910 women from 192 institutions Outdoor Track & Field earned USTFCCCA All­Academic honors during the 2015­16 track & field season. 2007: Michelle Sikes, Wake Forest To qualify for the USTFCCCA All­Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: For the indoor season, a student­athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org. For the outdoor season, a student­athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds). Minnesota and Stanford finished tied with the most individuals named USTFCCCA All­Academic with 23.     Conley, Back on Track, Competes in Strong Field at Stanford Invitational 10,000m By Mark Winitz Following an extended injury cycle in 2017 and 2018, USATF Pacific’s Kim Conley (Sacramento, Calif.) is back on the track, eager for a comeback year in 2019. On March 29, 2019 the two-time U.S. Olympian at 5,000 meters kicked off her track season at the Stanford Invitational, competing in a strong field that lined up for the featured event of the day—the women’s 10,000-meter invitational. The favored contenders were Molly Huddle and Emily Sisson. Huddle set the current U.S. women’s 10,000-meter record of 30:13.17 at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio where she placed sixth. She won the women’s U.S. 10,000m title in June 2018 for the fourth straight time. Huddle also holds multiple U.S. records on the roads. Until today, Sisson held a 10,000m PR of 31:24.64 which she recorded in Sacramento in 2017. Conley scored her 31:35.88 PR on Stanford’s track in 2017. Early in this year’s Stanford Invitational women’s 10,000-meter race that featured over 30 strong competitors Conley settled into third place behind leaders Sisson and Huddle. Still climbing back into full form, Conley struggled to keep up the brisk pace. Sisson and Huddle eventually placed 1-2, crossing the finish 1-2 in 30:49.57 (meet record) and 30:58.46 respectively. Both marks are under the women’s 31:50 qualifying standard for the 2019 World Track & Field Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The 2011 USA Cross Country Championships will be contested on February 5, 2011in San Diego, California and these championships will be hosted by the San Diego-Imperial Association of USA Track & Field. Participating athletes will be vying not only for national championship titles in the junior, senior and master’s categories, but also for positions on the US team that will compete at the 2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Punta Umbra, Spain. Preceding this great competition will be a community race in which local runners will have the opportunity to compete on the same course as the Championship race.
