THE REDS THIS DAY IN MARLINS HISTORY The Marlins snapped a three-game losing streak against the Reds Friday night, as the Reds took the last three games JULY 23 of a four-game set at Great American Ball Park the last time the Clubs met (August 15-18, 2016). Miami was on a six- game winning streak against the Redlegs prior to those losses, which marked the longest winning streak for the Fish in Florida used three late runs to earn a 5-4 come-from-behind win over the Brewers in the series' history. The Reds lead the all-time series, 107-83, with a 60-39 advantage when defending their home field 1999. Luis Castillo drew a bases-loaded walk (28-20 at GABP). Miami has won just four of their last 10 here, but have won two straight. to pull the Marlins within one run in the eighth. Then in the ninth, Mark Kotsay singled to left SWEEPS to score Danny Bautista to tie the game. Lat- Having already clinched the series win, the Marlins are looking for their first three-game sweep against the Reds since er in the inning, Jorge Fabregas hit a two-out July 8-10 last season in Miami and their first in Cincinnati since May 23-25, 2003 in the first season of Great American Ball single for the walk-off victory. Park. The only other time the Marlins swept a three-game series in the Queen City was Aug. 4-6, 2000 at Cinergy Field. Overall record on this date: 11-11

UP NEXT The Marlins travel to Dallas following today’s game to take on the Rangers in a three-game series in Arlington, their first visit to Arlington since 2014. In 2014, the teams had a home-and-home series, splitting both two-game series, June 10-11 in Arlington and Aug. 19-20 in Miami. All-time, the Marlins are 8-11 vs. the Rangers, but have gone 5-3 in Arlington. The Fish dropped their last contest there, snapping a three-game win streak in Arlington.

KEEPING IT REAL J.T. Realmuto hit two home runs last night, his second career multi-homer game, with both homers giving the Marlins the lead. He is just the second Marlins player this season to record two go-ahead RBI in one game, joining Marcell Ozuna (July 6 at STL). Realmuto is the first Marlin to hit two homers in a game, with both giving the team the lead, since Giancarlo Stanton did so on June 9, 2015 in Toronto, in a 4-3 loss.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN The Fish have now won five straight road games, their longest road win streak since seven straight April 24-30, 2016, and three straight road series, after conclud- ing the first-half with a three-game sweep in San Francisco. The team entered the All-Star break after a 10-game trip, going 6-4 on the trip to Milwaukee (1-2), St. Louis (2-1) and San Francisco (3-0), their first winning road trip since Aug. 15-21 of last season. The Marlins have recorded 10-or-more hits in 10 straight road games, the longest streak in the Majors this year, and a new franchise record (previous was nine straight July 26-Aug. 19, 2009). In road games, J.T. Realmuto is hitting .369 (62x168), which leads National League, while the team has combined for a .284 road batting average, which is second in the Majors, behind Houston (.302). Last season, the Marlins hit .275 on the road, their second-best road average in team history (.276 in 2005), while Realmuto led the NL with a .352 road batting average.

WILD BOUR Justin Bour, 2x4 with two runs scored last night, has reached safely in each of his last 17 starts, hitting .313 (21x67) with 10 walks over his past 18 games. The only game in his last 17 that he didn’t reach was when he struck out in a pinch-hit appearance on July 16. Bour has reached safely in 22 straight road contests, the longest ac- tive streak in the NL. On the season, Bour is hitting .328 (21x64) vs. lefties, compared to .280 (65x232) vs. righties.

THE BIG THREE Giancarlo Stanton (30 home runs), Marcell Ozuna (23 HR) and Justin Bour (21) have combined for 74 home runs, the Majors top home run-hitting trio so far this season. Cincinnati is second with 68 homers from their top trio (Votto 26, Schebler 22, Duvall 20), with the A’s third at 67 (Davis 27, Alonso 21, Healy 19).

THE CHASE IS ON Giancarlo Stanton hit his 30th home run Wednesday night, extending his National League lead over Cody Bellinger and Joey Votto (26 each). Through 95 team games, Stanton is on pace for 51 home runs, which would easily surpass the previous single-season Club record of 42, set by Gary Sheffield in 1996. Prior to this season, the earliest a Marlins' player had reached 30 home runs was in team game 110, done by Mike Lowell in 2003 (July 27). Also, Stanton, with nine home runs this month, now owns the Marlins record for home runs in July, passing Miguel Cabrera (2007), Dan Uggla (2010), and himself (2011). - Stats LLC
