Youth Pioneer Production” Comes to St Contact: Justin Osmond Producer / Public Relations 801-718-8437 [email protected] thepioneerlegacy.com June 12, 2017 For Immediate Release Merrill Osmond’s “Youth Pioneer Production” comes to St. George, July 24 St. George, UT — Merrill Osmond is excited to bring The Pioneer Legacy & Firework Celebration to southern Utah on Monday, July 24. In partnership with Dixie State University, this year’s celebration will be held at their beautiful, new Legend Solar Stadium. Working with Dixie Days of ’47 and our title sponsors, Canyon Media, Albertsons, Camping World, Intermountain Audiology, and Safari Hospitality, which includes Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn, and Hyatt Place, we are proud to honor the legacy and heritage of our beloved Dixie pioneers. Before the production begins, the 2017 Pioneer Legacy Award will be presented to the Atkin Family, whose ancestors, William and Rachel Atkin, settled on 160 acres of uninhabited land they named Atkinville, known today as Sun River. We celebrate their pioneer heritage, and the legacy that has contributed so much to our communities. The Pioneer Legacy & Firework Celebration is based on Merrill’s strong belief that today’s youth are the hope and future of tomorrow. Wagons, handcarts, tepees, the Flying Rocket Man, local entertainment, special guests, and one of the LARGEST firework displays in the valley will delight all in attendance. Through song and dance, this year’s production features more than 150 youth from Vista Charter School, and celebrates the journey and sacrifice of the Dixie trailblazers and their attempt to settle the untamed expanse of southern Utah. Reenactments of Catholic missionary colonizers, Greek and Italian pioneers, Chinese, Jewish, and Mormon settlers, as well as Native Americans will showcase Utah’s history. SAVE the DATE and plan now to enjoy a musical celebration of Utah’s rich cultural heritage with your family and friends. This Youth Pioneer Production features original music written by Merrill Osmond, Sam Cardon, Cliff Maag, and Sam Payne. The Pioneer Legacy & Firework Celebration is FREE to the public, so come early to get the best seats. “Come and join us as we celebrate the trailblazers of Dixie,” said Merrill Osmond. “While the Mormon pioneers are a huge part of Utah’s history, this production is non-denominational and celebrates all pioneers who made the trek to southern Utah and sacrificed so much for what we enjoy today.” Proceeds from this charity-based event will go to the Olive Osmond Hearing Fund to provide three local deaf children from the Washington County School District with the gift of hearing. Thanks to Intermountain Audiology, one of our wonderful sponsors, for helping to make this possible. Over the years, the Youth Pioneer Production has raised more than $100,000 to help local children hear life’s precious sounds. The Olive Osmond Hearing Fund was established in 2010 by Merrill’s son, Justin. Since its inception, the Foundation has helped more than 3,000 children with hearing loss. www.hearingfund.org For more information, please visit ThePioneerLegacy.com or call Justin Osmond at 801-718-8437. ### Fact Sheet and Schedule of Events Background: The Pioneer Legacy& Firework Celebration includes a firework spectacular and a theatrical representation of the joys and tribulations experienced by the Dixie pioneers on their trek west. JAMES ARTHUR OSMOND Provo, UT www.osmond.com [email protected] 417-334-4500 Profile Jimmy Osmond is a multi-faceted entrepreneur who calls Utah, Missouri, and the U.K. "home," and has made it his mission to promote childhood literacy and to raise awareness of the Children's Miracle Network (a non-profit organization founded by his mother, Olive Osmond, that has raised $5 billion for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada). Married to Michelle [Larson] since 1991, his most satisfying accomplishment has been raising his four children: Sophia, Zachary, Wyatt, and Bella. He started his entrepreneurial and performing career as the youngest member of the Osmond family with his first appearance on the "Andy Williams Show" at the tender age of three. Experience ENTREPRENEUR His Entrepreneurial Career Begins.... Jimmy's entrepreneurial career was sparked in 1976 when he demonstrated his flare for art and graphic design by creating and marketing merchandise for his family. With that success came others until he emerged as the founder of a full-fledged advertising agency called Oz-Art. That agency, in turn, became Osmond Creative Group (OCG) in 1984, and it provided production services for an elite roster of clients including: Coca- Cola, Yamaha, Fuji Film, AT&T, the Academy of Arts & Sciences, Disney, Hasbro, Milton Bradley, and more. Ultimately, his efforts led to winning various advertising awards including the coveted ADDY. OCG also arranged commercial endorsements, licensing, and sponsorships for such record-breaking world tours as Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi, Disney on Ice, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir (Japan tour), and the John Lennon Estate, to name a few.

Erekson: Elvis Has Left the Library Elvis Has Left the Library Identifying Forged Annotations in a Book of Mormon Keith A. Erekson or nearly three decades, the ghost of Elvis Presley has hung over the Fhistorical collections of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1989, a copy of the Book of Mormon was donated that con- tained marginal annotations purportedly by the “King of Rock and Roll.” Word of the acquisition spread quickly by fireside speakers, classroom teachers, and newspaper columnists. Requests to see and touch the book came repeatedly, so much so that by 2002 the book’s binding had cracked and a digital copy was made for visitors who came each week for a peek. In 2007, an independent film shown at the sixth annual LDS Film Festival in Orem, Utah, used the book as its launching point for a highly creative look at Presley’s later years, titled Tears of a King: The Latter Days of Elvis.
