2019-20 MEN'S BASKETBALL MEDIA GUIDE 5 COACHING STAFF SCOTT CLARK HEAD COACH

Clark was hired as the head coach of TRU’s men’s basketball program in 2010. Clark is the third head coach in the WolfPack program’s Canada West history. Since his arrival, the TRU men’s program has improved every year. In the 2015-16 season, he led the WolfPack to their first Canada West divisional title in the Explorer Division and their first-ever berth in the CIS Basketball Nationals Final 8. In the 2016-17 season, the WolfPack made the post season and beat in a play-in series before bowing out to the University of Dinos. Clark spent 15 years with the Simon Fraser University Clan, leading their men’s basketball team. Under his leadership, the team made the playoffs ten years in a row. “This was a great opportunity,” says Clark, who ended up moving closer to his parents and friends in Kelowna, BC. “I’m eager to continue laying a foundation for a program which continues to improve.” Clark describes himself as a coach who is demanding but fair. He immediately jumped into the Kamloops basketball scene by holding shooting clinics, starting the Junior Wolves program for elementary school students and a mentorship program for athletes from grades 10-12. Clark holds a Master’s degree in coaching. He attended the National Coaching Institute in Victoria, BC and has been a CIS coach for over 20 years. He is married to his lovely wife, Carla and has two stepsons, Brett, who played five years with the WolfPack, and Cole, who ran for one season with the TRU cross country team. Clark is very committed to his player’s success on and off the court along with their involvement in the community.

This is Murray’s fifth year as assistant coach with the WolfPack. He was previously an assistant coach for head coach Scott Clark with the Simon Fraser University Clan from 1997 to 1999, following his four seasons as team manager there from 1992 to 1996. Murray also worked with coach Clark and former TRU assistant coach Mark Simpson as an apprentice coach for Team BC U-17 boys in 2000 and 2001. Murray is a lawyer by trade and is the executive director of the TRU Community Legal Clinic and a sessional instructor in the TRU Faculty of Law. He has 14 years of coaching experience overall, including five years as the senior boys head coach at his high school alma mater, North Delta, from 2002 to 2007. He was also an assistant coach there for three years, from 1999 to 2002. He and his partner Hayley have a six-year-old cat named Richard the Lionheart.
