Congregation Etz Chaim is proud to announce that Cheryl Eppsteiner, Cindy Lewis and Marsha Shrago will be honored as “Synagogue Heroes” this year at the 3rd Annual Mitzvah for the Mikvah on Thursday, March 7, 2019. The three women serve as coordinators for the monthly Rosh Chodesh minyan.

Five years ago, the Rosh Chodesh minyan held its first service. Each month since then, women – many of whom had never before davened Shacharit, read Torah or chanted Musaf – join the regular morning minyan to conduct all parts of the service in support of the Women of the Wall (WoW). A breakfast sponsored by Sisterhood brings both the “Rosh Chodesh women” and the regular minyannaires together afterwards to hear a report on what happened at the Kotel that morning. The breakfast also provides an opportunity for learning; for several years, a different woman every month spoke about a notable Jewish woman in history. For each month during the past two years, different women have spoken about their journeys through Judaism.

Because of its commitment to Women of the Wall, the women of Etz Chaim were honored last year to host the WoW executive director, , for three days of lectures and learning at both the synagogue and at the Weber School.

The mission of the Metro Atlanta Community Mikvah (MACoM) is to provide a safe, sensitive, welcoming, halachic and aesthetically beautiful environment for Jewish ritual immersion and conversion, allowing for ongoing fulfillment of spirituality, Torah awareness, healing and wellness. For more information on MACoM or to register to attend the Annual Mitzvah for the Mikvah, please visit www.atlantamikvah.org.
