Fall 2005 Shakespeare Matters page 1 5:1 "Let me not to the marriage of true minds admit impediments..." Fall 2005 Falstaff in the Low Countries By Robert Detobel n his book Monstrous Adversary1 Prof. Alan Nelson has Oxford boast of his par ticipation in the battle of Bommel dur- Iing his visit to the Low Countries in the summer 1574. Nelson’s statement, my article shows, results from a double error. First he has failed to note the basic difference which existed between a battle and a siege in the Low Countries since 1573; second, and more James Newcomb, Fellowship member and Oregon Shakespeare Festival leading man, importantly, Nelson did not perceive (per- with Mark Anderson (right), winner of the 2005 Oxfordian of the Year Award. Newcomb haps because he did not want to) that Oxford’s stars this OSF season as a wickedly energetic Richard III. tale about his great feats was a Baron Münchhausen’s tall tale and was clearly so intended. More properly spoken it was a OSF, SF, and SOS Join Forces in “Falstaffiade, ” as will appear in the second part in which we observe the similarities between Oxford’s tale and Falstaff’s tales. Historic Conference (Continued on page 4) By Howard Schumann he first ever jointly sponsored conference of The Shakespeare Fellowship and The Shakespeare Oxford Society was a “breakthrough” and an important step in piercing the “bastion of orthodoxy” regarding the Shakespeare Tauthorship issue, according to James Newcomb, the Oregon ShakespeareFestival (OSF) actor who portrayed the villainous King Richard in the OSF’s magnificent production of Richard III. -

CLONES, BONES AND TWILIGHT ZONES: PROTECTING THE DIGITAL PERSONA OF THE QUICK, THE DEAD AND THE IMAGINARY By JosephJ. Beard' ABSTRACT This article explores a developing technology-the creation of digi- tal replicas of individuals, both living and dead, as well as the creation of totally imaginary humans. The article examines the various laws, includ- ing copyright, sui generis, right of publicity and trademark, that may be employed to prevent the creation, duplication and exploitation of digital replicas of individuals as well as to prevent unauthorized alteration of ex- isting images of a person. With respect to totally imaginary digital hu- mans, the article addresses the issue of whether such virtual humans should be treated like real humans or simply as highly sophisticated forms of animated cartoon characters. Fame Attack : the Inflation of Celebrity and Its Consequences

In a bid to escape exile in Crete, Icarus uses wings made from wax and feathers made by his father, the Athenian master craftsman Daedalus. But the sin of hubris causes him to pay no heed to his father’s warnings. He fl ies too close to the sun, so burning his wings, and falls into the Tsea and drowns. The parable is often used to highlight the perils of pride and the reckless, impulsive behaviour that it fosters. The frontier nature of celebrity culture perpetuates and enlarges narcissistic characteristics in stars and stargazers. Impulsive behaviour and recklessness are commonplace. They fi gure prominently in the entertainment pages and gossip columns of newspapers and magazines, prompting commentators to conjecture about the contagious effects of celebrity culture upon personal health and the social fabric. Do celebrities sometimes get too big for their boots and get involved in social and political issues that are beyond their competence? Can one posit an Icarus complex in some types of celebrity behaviour? This chapter addresses these questions by examining celanthropy and its discontents (notably Madonna’s controversial adoption of two Malawi children); celebrity health advice (Tom Cruise and Scientology); and celebrity pranks (the Sachsgate phone calls involving Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross). -

Hello? Goodbye! Marriage and divorce amongst celebrities Rehna Azim and Harry Benson The Marriage Foundation, November 2012 • For many people, marriage is Celebrity weddings ending in divorce now the glitzy celebration that (by years married) comes after having a baby and 50% moving in together. Hello! and Celeb divorce rate (3 year ave) other celebrity magazines 40% reinforce this focus on the UK divorce rate (actual) event. 30% • But marriage is far more than a wedding: it is the commitment, 20% the development of relationship skills and the working through issues together. 10% • The ingredients of marital 0% success, however, are not 2 4 6 8 10 dramatic or newsworthy. After the wedding it tends to be only the rows and splits that make the news. • At the launch of the Marriage Foundation, Family Court judge Sir Paul Coleridge raised concerns about the image of 'Hello! weddings' and the experience of seeing many couples in court soon after the big day. Our research confirms that the glamour of celebrity weddings is a poor indicator of future marital success. • Marriage Foundation has tracked 572 better-known celebrity couples whose weddings have taken place since 2000. • Despite all the comforts and advantages of fame and wealth, these celebrities divorce at twice the rate of the UK population. After ten years of marriage, the divorce rate for celebrities is 40%, compared to 20% for the rest of us. Rehna Azim is a barrister specializing in family law, as well as freelance journalist and writer. Harry Benson is a relationship educator and Director of Communications for The Marriage Foundation. -

FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM COGS108 Final Project Group Members: Yanyi Wang Ziwen Zeng Lingfei Lu Yuhan Wang Yuqing Deng Introduction and Background Movie revenue is one of the most important measure of good and bad movies. Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue? What aspects should people put more effort on and what factors should people focus on when they try to higher the revenue of a movie? http://localhost:8888/nbconvert/html/Desktop/MyProjects/Pr_085/FinalProject.ipynb?download=false Page 1 of 62 FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM Hypothesis: We predict that the following factors contribute the most to movie revenue. -
Bradley Cooper,Kaley Cuoco,Miley Cyrus,Tom Cruise,Pauly D,Matt
Bradley Cooper Need we even explain why this hunky actor was named People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2011? Blue-eyed hottie Bradley Cooper was born on January 5, 1975, and, boy, are we thankful! The actor and producer has starred in numerous movies, including Wedding Crashers, Yes Man, He’s Just Not That Into You, and the infamous Hangover trilogy, to name a few. But it was his roles in the intense and drama-filled Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle that earned him those noteworthy Academy Award nominations for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Thanks to his jaw-dropping good looks, we all want to know what’s going on in his relationship and love life. Following his celebrity divorce from wife Jennifer Esposito in 2006, Bradley Cooper has had only a few relationships in the public eye. He was linked to Renee Zellweger for two years and dated his The Words co-star Zoe Saldana after that. After a two-year celebrity relationship with model and actress Suki Waterhouse, the famous couple announced their break-up in March 2015. Ladies, this handsome fella is back on the market! Kaley Cuoco Kaley Christine Cuoco is an American actress that has starred on hit shows such as 8 Simple Rules, Charmed and The Big Bang Theory.
