VENERDì 31 GENNAIO 2014 I Broken Bells, il duo nato dalla collaborazione tra Brian Burton (Danger Mouse) ed il leader dei The Shins James Mercer, pubblicheranno il 4 febbraio 2014 il loro secondo album dal titolo "After the Disco". L'uscita Broken Bells del cd è stata anticipata dal primo singolo "Holding On For Life", in radio da fine novembre. Il nuovo album "After the Disco" in uscita il 4 febbraio 2014 "After the Disco" fa seguito all'album di debutto omonimo della band, datato 2010. Entrato ai vertici della classifica Billboard ha ricevuto una nomination ai Grammy e Burton, sempre in quell'anno, ha conquistato il titolo di Producer of the Year. LUCIA SAVINO Dal 2004 ad oggi numerosi giganti della musica hanno cercato la collaborazione con Danger Mouse come produttore. Per citarne solo alcuni, ha firmato album come "Demon Days" dei Gorillaz, "Modern Guilt" di Beck, l'esplosivo singolo dei Black Keys "Tighten Up" ed il loro grandioso album "El". A queste si aggiunge la produzione del nuovo imminente album degli U2. Da allora, gli ingranaggi della creatività si sono messi in moto e non si sono più fermati. Nonostante Brian Burton abbia avuto una serie di collaboratori illustri nelle sue avventure musicali, ha trovato in James Mercer il suo partner definitivo nella scrittura. Mercer ha contribuito ad aprire un nuovo mondo musicale, sia per se stesso che per Burton come Broken Bells. Il risultato è stata la creazione di una musica cosmica e potente da parte di un duo fondato sul rispetto reciproco e la condivisione del talento. Non sono i The Shins. Non è Danger Mouse. Denne enestående og eksklusive koncert bliver live-transmitteret på P4, og man kan kun få billetter til arrangementet via radio-kanalen. Med på rejsen har Norah Jones en trio og koncerten vil primært være en præsentation af det nye materiale fra albummet Little Broken Hearts. Dette album er blevet til i samarbejde med den amerikanske producer og musiker Danger Mouse, som bl.a. er kendt fra bands som Broken Bells og Gnarls Barkley. Page 1 of 2 Mark Linkous 1962-2010 BY RICHARD FOSTER click to enlarge Richmond musicians, friends and family held a memorial at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden last weekend for departed rock star Mark Linkous, who on March 6 lost his lifelong battle with clinical depression in an alley outside a friend's home in Knoxville, Tenn. Distraught after receiving an upsetting text message, the former Richmonder left the house and shot himself in the heart. Linkous, who was 47, recorded four influential, country-tinged alt-rock albums of haunted melodies under the name Sparklehorse, performing with artists such as PJ Harvey and Tom Waits, with whom he maintained a long-distance friendship. He toured with huge bands such as Radiohead and R.E.M., both of which raved about Linkous and counted Sparklehorse among their favorite musical acts. It was while Linkous was opening for Radiohead on the European leg of its legendary “OK Computer” tour in 1997 that he had a near-fatal cardiac arrest from an overdose of prescription antidepressants and alcohol. He was clinically dead for three minutes and spent weeks in a coma. The attack left his legs atrophied, requiring him to use a wheelchair or leg braces, a source of constant frustration. A somewhat reclusive musical genius, Linkous produced albums for Nina Persson of the Cardigans, Daniel Johnston and Richmond emo band Denali. More recently he collaborated with acclaimed musician and producer Danger Mouse (of Gnarls Barkley, Broken Bells) on the forthcoming album “Dark Night of the Soul.” Scheduled for release this summer, the album of songs by Linkous and Danger Mouse includes an accompanying photo album by film director David Lynch and features performances by Lynch, Persson, Iggy Pop, Frank Black of the Pixies, the late Vic Chesnutt, Suzanne Vega and the Flaming Lips.
