Merry Christmas ! Yes, Virginia, Christmas is coming to Pezamania 27 !! This is the last Newsletter Issue leading up to this year’s Convention. Before we get into some Convention information, let’s begin this Issue with words from our Convention Host: Rick Marlowe ~
Hi Gang,
The excitement is building here at Pezamania Central! The living room is packed full of bins and other items waiting to be placed into the trailer and head down the road! The excitement level is building day by day, and at times, we have to just step back and clear our heads just to keep things straight. We want to thank everyone who has registered and supported us through this year’s Convention. That is what keeps us moving forward. Registration numbers are very high again this year, so we are looking forward to another large turnout. This year, we are happy to say that there will be over 60 different dealers set up in the ballroom on Saturday, and over 74 rooms open for room hopping through the week. At this time, we think we have the largest group of first-time Pezamania attendees ever….. with 49! The Hotel staff has been working hard to get everything set for us, and Cheri, in room reservations, is remarkable! We are looking forward to seeing our extended family, in just 2 short weeks! Peace. To begin, here’s an update on some of the one-of-a-kind items that will appear in our Charity Auctions this year: Steve and Sue Heraly will be donating 2 pieces of artwork again this year. If you’ve never seen some of the work they do, you are in for a special treat !
Michelle Hernandez and Julie will be raffling off their beautiful Pez Quilt that was handmade especially for this year’s Convention. Check out the picture in this Issue for a glimpse of their handiwork. JULY 2017 ISSUE 7
Carl Webb does amazingly skillful things turning wood into some of the most beautiful ink pens you will ever see. We promise you that winning one of Carl’s special designs in the auction will be a thrill to own !
A very special item you will want to bid on to add to your Pez Collection, is the Batman Pez signed by the one and only, Adam West !! As you may know, Adam West passed away earlier this year, so this is the last Batman Pez with his signature. Such a great memory of those earlier Batman TV shows ~ this Pez will be a Hot Ticket item for certain !
Thanks to couple folks’ donated items, this year we have put together a Darth Vader Package !! We have 3 Darth Vaders in this package: one signed by David Prowse, the original actor to play this character - one signed by Daniel Naprous, who played Darth Vader in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - and to complete this impressive set, a Darth Vader is signed by Brian Muir, who was the creator of the original helmet! Brian was amazing to talk with, and very humbled to be asked to sign the Darth Vader Pez.
Another Hot Ticket (literally) item, donated by Bill Himmel, is Red Wing Hockey Game Tickets (for 2) for this coming hockey season (2017/2018), as well as, several signed Red Wing Hockey Puck Pez Dispensers !! If you are a hockey fan, this will be an item you surely will want to bid on !!
Staying with the sports theme, here’s a note from John Gliha explaining this very special item: "Gertie and I lived our entire adult life in Conklin, NY. About ten miles west is the small town of Endwell, NY. Last summer, Endwell's little league team WON the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. Their team also won the Sportsmanship Award. That was the first time that any LL Team won BOTH of these awards! One of the three pitchers was Jude Abbadessa. His mom, Alecia, is the JULY 2017 ISSUE 7 secretary of our Catholic church in Kirkwood which I was a member for many years. I gave Alecia a Giant Charley Brown Pez and she had all 11 Endwell LL Players sign it. I also gave her two other Pez and she had her son, Jude, plus the two other pitchers, sign them. I think these are awesome Charity items. In my 70 years, I have never even known anyone who was on a LL World Series winning team.” These items are certainly very special and will be such a fantastic addition to your Pez Collection !
As you have read on the List, on Facebook, as well as, on the Pez Community Page, Brian Jaskolski will be starting a new, not to be missed, event at this year’s Convention. Be sure to see Brian to get your special button to be worn throughout the Convention designating you as having “Swag to Swap”. No money exchanges hands. You swap your Swag for another attendee’s Swag they brought to swap. This should be a lot of fun and may be one of the best items you bring home ! Rick and Sue will be participating with their Swag only available in the Registration Room. You can look in their Swag Box and do your swap. Have fun with this ! What a great way to mingle and meet other Pez Collectors ! Here’s the ‘scoop’ from Brian, just in case you missed it:
"Hi gang, less than a month until Pezamania! I hope everyone is excited! I just wanted to touch base about the Swag Swap; I hope the creative juices are flowing amongst all of us PEZHeads!!! I'm really excited about it, and can't wait to see what people come up with. Remember: simple or elaborate, doesn't matter. If you designed/made it, it counts! Pins, postcards, candy packs, patches, business cards, stickers, whatever you have.... it all works! The only prerequisite is that it must be designed or made by you! JULY 2017 ISSUE 7
A few people have asked me how it will work at the convention. There is no designated space or time; if you have an item to trade and see another person who is also participating, go for it! I will also have tons of free buttons for participants to wear; that way as you're roaming the halls, and wearing your button, you'll be identified as a participant and people can track you down to swap items. It's that simple! I'll try to get a few of the dealers to have buttons in their rooms as well, so that you don't have to specifically hunt me down to get one.!
Also, I highly encourage you to post pics of the Swag that you collected after the convention to the Facebook group! Let everyone see the cool things you collected; it will spark interest and get more people in on it at future conventions! Really looking forward to this! See you all soon!" ~ Brian
Remember, there will be a T-shirt/Sweater Contest in support of the Christmas in July Theme. Winter scenes do not apply. After all, this is Christmas in July !! What would this be without a visit from that Jolly Old Elf, himself ? Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and he will be in Cleveland for Pezamania 27 !! Santa will be available during the Friday afternoon’s Photo Booth Session. What a great idea for this year’s Christmas Card !!

Remember the Pezamania Newsletter Scavenger Hunt contest we discussed in an earlier newsletter. Well it’s here!!
On the next page, in this Issue, you can see the list of items to hunt for. You can print your answer sheet from the last page of this Newsletter. It’s very simple: read the questions, hunt through past Newsletters for the answers, and add your answers to the answer sheet. Bring your answer sheet to the Convention. In the Registration Room, we will have a box to turn in your answer sheet. We will collect these by noon on Friday, and the winner will be announced at the Friday Night Family Game Night.
There will be a nice Prize Package for the person who gets the most answers correct. In the event of a tie, all those tied answer sheets will go into the box for the winner to be drawn.
