  • Funland a Disturbingly Funny Thriller Written and Created by Simon
Press Packs Funland Funland A disturbingly funny thriller written and created by Simon Ashdown and Jeremy Dyson Date: 27.09.2005 Funland is the hotly-anticipated collaboration between Bafta Award-winning EastEnders writer Simon Ashdown and Jeremy Dyson, multiple award-winning writer of The League of Gentlemen. Set in Blackpool, over one long weekend, Funland brings us to the black heart of Blackpool - bringing the saucy seaside postcard screaming into the 21st century. Funland takes us on a mysterious journey where things are not quite what they seem. There's Carter Krantz, played by newcomer Daniel Mays, who arrives in Blackpool to avenge the death of his mother. Without a penny to his name and carrying only a fragment of paper containing the words 'Ambrose Chapel', Carter tries to uncover the truth about his mother and in doing so is sucked into the most disturbing of mysteries. He meets the dysfunctional Woolf family who are at the heart of everything that happens in Blackpool: there's Shirley Woolf (Ian Puleston-Davies), a borderline psycho; his mother, the evil and manipulative Mercy (Judy Parfitt); and his foolhardy wife Connie (Frances Barber). Meanwhile the Suttons - Dudley (Kris Marshall) and Lola (Sarah Smart) - arrive in Blackpool for a dirty weekend to spice up their marriage, but their weekend at the Shangri-La guesthouse in Blackpool turns their world upside down and their lives will never be the same again. "At the centre of the story is the Woolf family," explains Simon Ashdown, one half of the writing partnership. "There is a lot of history to the family and they have their own storyline going on.

  • Electronic Press Kit Short Synopsis
ELECTRONIC PRESS KIT SHORT SYNOPSIS ‘Britain’s Big Cat Mystery’ is the world’s first and only feature-length documentary exploring the unusual phe- nomenon of the United Kingdom’s population of mysterious large cats, which are alleged to be prowling the wil- derness and countryside of rural Britain. Britain has a long, colourful and complicated history of having a diverse exotic pet trade; from the days of the old British Empire, until the mid-20th century, it was deemed an indicator and symbol of status, wealth and fashion to own exotic pets, (especially big cats). Incidents and reports spiralled out of control in the 1960s; and with the later introduction of the Dangerous Wild Animals Act in 1976, the situation only intensified, as some exotic cat owners who were unable to afford the new licences required to legally retain their pets, set about deliberately releasing their privately owned big cats in preference of having them terminated. Reports and sightings of big cats in Britain continue to this day. This film adds substance to folklore and myth to establish the historic and scientific facts; and now, after years of tireless and extensive research, the story of ‘Britain’s Big Cat Mystery’ can finally be told with more clarity, detail and substantiated fact than has ever been possible before. Join the team, as they review newly uncov- ered and previously lost evidence, including long-forgotten archive footage, as well as exclusive new inter- views with key witnesses to the seminal events in the history of the mysterious big cats of Britain, who until now have been unwilling to talk on camera..

  • Public Comment
Subject: RIN 1210-AB32 Dear Secretary Perez, As licensed financial professionals serving the needs of our middle income clients, we appreciate the opportunity to comment on the Department of Labor’s (DOL) proposed retirement rule. We agree that more needs to be done to ensure savers are financially independent. In fact, we do what is best for our clients every day. However, your proposed retirement regulation will negatively impact our clients’ ability to save for the future. Currently, we are able to provide guidance that balances the price and level of education our clients need to meet their financial goals. However, the proposal’s new “Best Interest Contract” exemption will create a complicated regulatory structure that will unnecessarily limit savers’ choices. In our view, the DOL’s long list of requirements and exemptions is currently unfeasible. The regulation will result in small and middle income savers being forced into accounts that may not suit their needs or preferences and cause others to go at it alone without the assistance of an investment professional. This is problematic because statistics show that when comparing identical savers (e.g., income and age), those working with a broker have 58 percent more in assets in four to six years; 99 percent more in assets in seven to 14 years; and 173 percent more in assets in 15 years and beyond than those who don’t work with a financial professional. Without these services, savers will be left without guidance, which for most means left without savings. Those who self-initiate will be forced into either self-directed brokerage accounts that may not even have access to online tools and services commonly available today or into other retirement accounts that may not suit their needs or preferences.
