BRIEF NOTE ON THE PROJECT

At present the burial ground is functioning at SF Nos. 1045

Village, , belonging to National Highways department measuring 3.03.3 hec. and a part of the Forest Department land mentioned as above and that it is used by the general public hailing from ,

Sugunapuram, Milekal and Madukkarai areas.

In as much as the above mentioned existing burial ground is not able to cope with the imperative needs of the fast growing Population, the Corporation proposes to alienate the land measuring 9.0 acres ( 3.64.5 Hec.) of the Forest

Assessed Waste Land bearing S.F.No. 1044/6, 1143/1, 1143/2B, 1145 and 1146 of Madukkarai Village, Madukkarai Taluk, District belonging to the

Forest department to the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation for the purpose of carrying out essential improvements to the existing burial ground.

In this connection it is stated that the public have been experiencing lot of difficulties for the past 30 years for want of adequate facilities at the existing burial ground and that numerous representations are being received from the Public frequently demanding for improved facilities at the burial ground.

The beneficiaries of this project:

4 Lakhs population in and around villages of kuniamuthur, Kovaipudur,

Sugunapuram, Milekal, Madukkarai, Eachanari, and Sundarapuram, areas. As per the settled principles in force, while allotting the Forest Land for non-forest activities, alternative land to an extent of double the extent of forest land is required to be allotted to the forest department for the purpose of afforestation.

Accordingly, the Coimbatore Corporation has forwarded the necessary proposal to the District Forest Officer, separately to allot the lands belonging to

Revenue Department situated at , Tholampalayam Village

S.F.Nos.958/4 an extent of 7.29 Hecteres. (ie. Double the extent of Forest land measuring 3.64.5 hecteres) in exchange of the above Forest Lands situated at

Madukkarai Village.

In the light of the material facts and pressing circumstances mentioned above the Coimbatore city municipal corporation has requested the district collector Coimbatore to accord necessary formal consent for the alienation of the

Revenue land to the forest department ,so as to enable the forest department proceed further in this matter.
