FORMS OF RECORDED OWNERSHIP The American Hanoverian Society recognizes several forms of recorded ownership: Individual, Joint (two related individuals), Partnership (two or more unrelated individuals), and Corporate (farm or business). Consider the form of ownership that best applies to your situation at the time of recording, and make your application for ownership exactly as you wish it to appear on the horse’s papers. Please keep in mind, when two individuals are listed as owners, if “and” is connecting the two names (e.g. John and Susie Smith), both parties are required to sign in order to release the horse to new owners. If “and/or” is used (e.g. John and/or Susie Smith), then only one signature is required.

BYLAWS, RULES AND REGULATIONS All persons doing business with the AHS are subject to the Bylaws, Breeding Rules and Regulations, and all procedural policies adopted by the society. These may change from time to time, so all persons are advised to check with the Society for current information. All fees are subject to change. Effective April 16, 2015.

American Rhineland Studbook – Mare Incentives In February 2016, the American Hanoverian Society, Inc. (“AHS”) expanded its services by commencing administration of the American Rhineland Studbook (“ARS”). This marks the first time the Rhineland Riding Horse has had representation in the U.S. The ARS will be an entity separate and distinct from the Hanoverian Studbook. For the 2016 breeding season, the new Rhineland Studbook will offer attractive options for mare owners, including reduced fees and streamlined registration and inspection procedures:

One Organization Results in Convenience and Savings • Mare owners will benefit from reduced expenses in membership and mare dues. Membership in the AHS and one annual payment of mare dues will give the mare owner the opportunity and flexibility to utilize either the Hanoverian or Rhineland studbooks, while enjoying the convenience of working within one professional, fully-staffed organization. • The 2016 AHS inspection tour will include both studbooks, resulting in time and savings for mare owners by providing them with the opportunity to attend a single inspection in order to have their breeding stock considered for inclusion in either studbook.

Increased Options and Flexibility in Breeding Choices • Mare owners will have increased options in stallion choices, with the ability to use the Rhineland Studbook to register foals resulting from breeding to stallions not licensed/approved for Hanoverian breeding. • Mare owners with mares ineligible for approval by the Hanoverian Studbook, due to pedigree or inspection criteria, may find those mares eligible to be approved under Rhineland Studbook criteria, with the resulting offspring eligible for registration with the ARS.

Mare Eligibility for Approval without Presentation Mare owners may enter their mares into the Rhineland Studbook, without the added time and expense of re- presenting their mares, contingent upon meeting specific eligibility requirements: • All Hanoverian and non-Hanoverian mares that have been accepted into the American Hanoverian Main Studbook are automatically waived-in to the ARS Main Studbook. • Any non-Hanoverian mare previously presented for inspection to the AHS that scored greater than an overall 6 (with no subset below 5) but less than an overall 7, may be waived-in to the ARS Main Studbook without being re-presented. • Any non-Hanoverian mare that is registered in the Main Marebook of a registry specified in the “Eligible Registries” list (below) may be waived-in to the Rhineland Studbook without presentation, contingent upon approval of the mare’s pedigree, confirmation of recorded DNA case number at UC-Davis, and submission of a copy of the official Main Marebook score sheet from the mare’s registry.

Page 1

Registration for Foals of 2016 • Mare owners pay no foreign sire fee for their foals of 2016 if the stallion is activated with the ARS. • Mare owners pay a reduced foreign sire fee for their foals of 2016 if the stallion is deemed acceptable for Rhineland by the ARS office, but is not activated with the ARS for 2016. • Non-Hanoverian mares recorded in the ARS Main Studbook may register their 2016 foals with the ARS upon verification of the stallion’s eligibility with the ARS. Mare dues for the 2015 foal conception year are reduced.

For additional information, including AHS membership forms, mare eligibility forms, and complete fee schedules, please visit the American Rhineland Studbook website, www.USRhineland.org, or contact the ARS office at [email protected].
