NOTICE OF RACE

1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of . 1.2 The Australian Sailing Special Regulations Part 2 Off the Beach Boats shall apply. 1.3 Appendix T, Arbitration, and the Equipment Rules of Sailing will apply. 1.4 Sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located on the Frankston Yacht Club website and noticeboard on the ground floor.

2 ADVERTISING 2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. Details will be supplied at registration.

3* ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all Australian and International boats of the Formula 18 Catamaran and Formula 16 Catamaran classes. 3.2 All skippers and crews shall be state or national financial members of either the Australian F18 association or the Australian F16 association as applicable or their relevant national class association for international sailors. State F18 membership costs $50 for skipper and $30 for crew. The following link will take you to the F18 membership site https://www.revolutionise.com.au/ausf18/registration/. 3.3 Eligible F16 & F18 may enter the regatta by following the attached link, https://www.revolutionise.com.au/ausf18/events/89565/ completing the online entry form and paying the required fee. 3.4 Late entries will be accepted if they are received after midnight Thursday 4th March 2021 accompanied by the appropriate late fee.

5 FEES 5.1 Required fees are as follows: Class Fee F18 $150.00 F16 $150.00 5.2 Other fees: Late Fee F18 & F16 $20.00

7 SCHEDULE 7.1 Online registration is to be completed before the event. 7.2 Dates of racing: Date Event Time Saturday 6th March 2021 Info & Weighing 09:00 hrs Saturday 6th March 2021 3 to 5 races 11:00 hrs Sunday 7th March 2021 3 to 5 races 10:00 hrs Monday 8th March 2021 3 to 5 races 10:00 hrs

No race shall be started after 15:00 hrs on Monday 8th March.

F18 & F16 fleets will share the same start.

7.3 Trophy presentation will be at the conclusion of racing on Monday 12th March 2021

8 MEASUREMENTS 8.1 Formula 18 crews may be weighed before racing at the discretion of the F18 State representative (Jeremy Brookes). Underweight crews will carry lead as prescribed by F18 class rules. Crews who are likely to be underweight are required to bring lead suitable to fix to the dolphin striker strap.

10 VENUE 10.1 The location of the Frankston Yacht Club and the racing areas is depicted in the attachments to this document.

11 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be the LA course in the Standard Sailing Instructions (Appendix S).

12 PENALTY SYSTEM 12.1 Rule 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

13 SCORING 13.1 There are 12 races scheduled of which 4 are required to be completed to constitute a series. 13.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from 5 to 8 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. (c) When 9 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores. (d) Results will be published in the following formats: combined F18/16 scratch; F16 Spinnaker and F16 Cat

14 SUPPORT BOATS Support boats shall register with the regatta office before going on the water the first time. All support boats must carry a working VHF radio able to be tuned to channels 71, 72, 73 and 77 as well as be prepared to assist the race committee if requested to do so until cleared to leave the course area.

15 BERTHING Boats shall be kept in their assigned places while they are in the boat park.

18 RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

20 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

21 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $5,000,000 (recommended $10,000,000) per incident or the equivalent.
