Proceeds from this event support US Sciences Po Foundation created to disseminate the values for which Sciences Po, an international and innovative teaching institution in Paris, France stands for: excellence in education and research, diversity, and equal access to higher education for students whose talent and promise exceed their financial resources. The US Sciences Po Foundation is pleased to announce our 2012 Keynote Speaker and Honoree, Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund. While great progress has been made, Sciences Po continues to introduce groundbreaking programs and partnerships that benefit students and faculty. Financing the school’s growth and development is a top priority. However, public funding and tuition are not enough. In order to finance its expansion and operations and consolidate its financial independence, Sciences Po has launched fundraising campaigns in France, Great Britain, and the United States. The US Sciences Po Foundation was founded as part of this e!ort and serves as the center of these philanthropic and collaborative activities in the U.S. www.usscpo.org 1 US Sciences Po Foundation THE US SCIENCES PO FOUNDATION The US Sciences Po Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization, was founded in December 2009, with the aim of pursuing non-profit and educational objectives, including enhancing the reputation and raising interest in and awareness of Sciences Po in the United States. Its goal is to assist Sciences Po in implementing strategies designed to encourage talented students to carry out their studies at Sciences Po. The US Sciences Po Foundation is as a central part of the Sciences Po 2013 (lien) capital campaign. In Sciences Po’s worldwide strategy, the United States e!ort is designed to catalyze long-term philanthropic support of Sciences Po through the creation of a strong base of support in the United States. Sciences Po must be able to count on the support of private investors convinced of the merits of the changes envisaged for the next five years. The foundation aims at gathering those individual donors to find the resources to achieve Sciences Po’s ambition and disseminate our educational values in the United States. Sciences Po has set an objective to raise 20 million euros from alumni. The US campaign should contribute with 6 million euros. Since its o"cial launch, the US Sciences Po Foundation has already gathered $2.3 million, namely 30% of the total objective of the US campaign, which comprises of $1.5 million invested in an endowment. The endowment assets are managed by the Board of the US Sciences Po Foundation with the help of Meeschaert Asset Management. From: Indépendance des Chercheurs <indep_chercheurs@y...> Date: Thu Nov 25, 2004 2:50 pm Subject: NI RAFFARIN, NI JOSPIN: ABROGATION DE LA LOLF !

  • The Government and Politics of France: Fifth Edition
The Government and Politics of France This fifth edition of The Government and Politics of France offers a fully revised, updated and comprehensive view of the contemporary French political scene based on the work of the leading specialist on France of his generation. It covers such events as the dramatic presidential election of 2002 and includes a major new chapter on France and European integration, culminating in the historic rejection of the European consti- tutional treaty by French voters in May 2005. Although particular attention is paid to the most recent period, the book covers the whole of the Fifth Republic in depth, from its heroic beginnings under de Gaulle to the period of reverses and defeats sustained by successive governments under the Mitter- rand and Chirac presidencies. The contemporary period is placed firmly in the context of those long-standing political traditions which have maintained their power to shape French political behaviour to this day. The long view supplied in this book allows a unique understanding of how the dynamic, confident economic and political power of the early de Gaulle years has become the more hesitant and troubled nation of the early twenty-first century – and of the points of continuity that underlie this development. The Government and Politics of France is the authoritative guide to French politics and is essential for undergraduates and postgraduates with interests in French politics, European studies and political science. Andrew Knapp is Professor of French Politics and Contemporary History at the Uni- versity of Reading. He is author of Parties and the Party System in France (2004), Le Gaullisme après de Gaulle (1996), and, with Yves Mény, Government and Politics in Western Europe (third edition, 1998).
