What are the trends in work time and time use in the U.S.? Are Americans working more? Are they working more at unpleasant times? Are they complaining more about their lack of time? Who complains, and what causes their complaints? These and other topics related to the economics of time use are presented using massive amounts of different kinds of data and interpreting the data in light of economic theory.

Daniel Hamermesh is currently Edward Everett Hall Centennial Professor of Economics at the University of Texas at Austin. He has previously taught at Michigan State and Princeton. He is a fellow of the Econometrics Society and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. In 2001 he was President of the Society of Labor Economists.
