  • The Twenty Greatest Music Concerts I've Ever Seen
THE TWENTY GREATEST MUSIC CONCERTS I'VE EVER SEEN Whew, I'm done. Let me remind everyone how this worked. I would go through my Ipod in that weird Ipod alphabetical order and when I would come upon an artist that I have seen live, I would replay that concert in my head. (BTW, since this segment started I no longer even have an ipod. All my music is on my laptop and phone now.) The number you see at the end of the concert description is the number of times I have seen that artist live. If it was multiple times, I would do my best to describe the one concert that I considered to be their best. If no number appears, it means I only saw that artist once. Mind you, I have seen many artists live that I do not have a song by on my Ipod. That artist is not represented here. So although the final number of concerts I have seen came to 828 concerts (wow, 828!), the number is actually higher. And there are "bar" bands and artists (like LeCompt and Sam Butera, for example) where I have seen them perform hundreds of sets, but I counted those as "one," although I have seen Lecompt in "concert" also. Any show you see with the four stars (****) means they came damn close to being one of the Top Twenty, but they fell just short. So here's the Twenty. Enjoy and thanks so much for all of your input. And don't sue me if I have a date wrong here and there.

James City County Police Department 2016 Annual Report Celebrating the Law Enforcement Center’s Fifth Year Anniversary Protection & Prevention Through Professionalism Bradley J. Rinehimer Chief of Police VLEPSC Accredited Agency jamescitycountyva.gov/police Letter from the Chief I want to personally thank you for taking the time to review our annual report and for taking an interest in your police department. I say this often, but we would not be nearly as successful without the support and trust from the community we serve. This annual report is a compi- lation of many of the programs and events that we participate in which helps us in gauging our success and areas in which we want to improve. Over this past year, we have been extremely fortunate to have seen con- tinued support from our citizens despite some negativity towards law enforcement in other parts of our nation. Our officers work very hard every single day to keep our community safe and to continue to pro- vide a high quality of life for all citizens and visitors to our area. Over the previous year, we have continued to focus much of our efforts on maintaining and improving relationships with our communities. This is evident through the institution of some new programs such as “Color- ing with a Cop”, which focuses on forging positive relations with our youth. We also have expanded our “Coffee with a Cop” program to be Photo by: Jim Goodridge more inclusive of all neighborhoods. We participate in many other events and are always looking at ways to improve our relationship with our community.

Issue 117 AUGUST 10TH, 2020 This was the hardest issue I’ve ever had to put together. Not because the writers were late on copy (quite the contrary), or things went awry in production – it was because the events of the week leading up to Issue 117 were crazy. I had to take care of a sudden major family health issue involving a hospital and a PT rehab center. (She’s going to be OK.) Then hurricane Isaias hit Long Island and we lost power. (One fallen tree barely missed our house.) In the middle of this I developed a vision problem in my left eye. A very large floater that looks like a big grayish-black squiggle; the doc said to see him immediately but concluded, “it’s not dangerous.” (It’s gradually getting better, and I look forward to the day when people won’t say “that was when he had one good eye.”) I had to find someplace that had internet in order to work. Happily my friend Fran Resvanis came through and I made the hour-plus round trip to their house for two days. Then my wife's place of business got power back, and now here I am in a veterinarian's office. Luckily I haven't been asked to assist with emergency dog surgery. Through it all, we've had to make sure our deaf and almost blind pug has been taken care of. The gist of it: hours and hours of lost time, major disruption of life and work, and pinning-the-meter stress.

THE CHRONICLE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 29, 1987 t DUKE UNIVERSITY DURHAM, NORTH CAROLINA CIRCULATION: 15,000 VOL. 83, NO. 43 Krzyzewski offers praise, advice to fans Coach K entertains crowd with basketball wit By MIKE LEBER The Duke basketball team has looked good in the opening two weeks of practice, head coach Mike Krzyzewski told a crowd of about 500 in Page Audito rium Wednesday night. However, he added that they have plenty of room for improvement before the season opens. So do the Blue Devil fans. "You're so damn innovative," Krzyzewski said. "But there are some things you can improve on," Coach K urged fans not to single out an opposing player for abuse, because that player will often come through with one ofthe best games of his career. At the same time, Krzyzewski said the student body has been important in representing the University and aiding recruitment. "You create an environment that is so damn good it's unbelievable; I just want to tell you 'thanks,'" Krzyzewski said. "You walk into Cameron and you see our players and you see our students. It's a happening." Coach K said.that a recruit can't help but be im pressed by the scene at what has been called one of the best college basketball arenas in America. Krzyzewski's speech, which will become an annual event, was peppered with one-liners and quips about his players, eight of whom were in attendance. Throughout STAFF PHOTO/THE CHRONICLE the speech, Krzyzewski referred to his players by their first names, and the crowd seemed to understand ex Composite sketch actly who he was talking about each time.
