The `53 Studebaker Champion from Liselotte Pulver – The conservation and restoration of carpaint Abstract: The history of Studebaker as a traditional American car company with its model Champion Starliner as a mass product and object of design is researched. The automobil owned by the famous Swiss actress Liselotte Pulver was taken as a subject for this study. The car was examined and assassed in relation to International criteria applicable to vintage automobiles. The damage to the paintwork is documented and characterized. Each distinct paintlayer is analized using differing methods. The history of each paintlayer is reconstructed enabling an appropriate concept of restoration to be developped. The difficulties and opportunities rising out of such a partial paint restoration of a monochrome laquersurface is illustrated by this study.

  • Death of John W. Studebaker P97 John W
Volume 37, Issue 4 Collecting, recording and sharing the genealogical history of family groups Fall 2002 Death of John W. Studebaker P97 John W. had married Hannah Ulery, sister to Mary, wife of his brother David, thus making these two families particularly close. John became a 'Visiting Brother" in the Church. He continued to buy and sell land after he came to Ohio. His health must not have been good, as he made his will April 23, 1832 and revised it that June when he was only 45 years old. He died the following January, leaving 14 living children, 7 of whom were minors. Hannah Ulery had her hands full, but with the help of her older children, managed to keep the family together. Both she and her sister were strong characters. I found no record of any of John's children being apprenticed. Perhaps John and Hannah did not approve of how Abraham handled the guardianship of David's offspring. The two Ulery sisters, now both relatively young widows By Miriam Owen Irwin with large families, had the advantage of being born into two P984-611 fine, supportive families. They were daughters of Elder Samuel Ulery and his wife, Mary Elizabeth Brumbaugh. John and Hannah's oldest son, Samuel [+P971] was 25 and married to Elizabeth Minnich when John W. died. As his inheritance, he received a farm called the Knoop place. Later they moved to Clark County, Ohio. We have not been able to follow the genealogy of Samuel's eight children. Mary Studebaker [+P972] had married Eli Gump before her father died.

A product of the elite Ecole libre des sciences politiques with considerable experience in finance and industry, Lehideux had been at the centre of the Vichy regime’s economic policies, serving as commissioner for unemployment, delegate-general for national (industrial) equipment, and state secretary for industrial production.^ In each of these positions, he worked closely with the German occupation authorities. But it was Lehideux’s activities as the director of the professional organization for the French automobile industry, the Comite d’organisation de I’automobile et du cycle (GOA), created in September 1940, that appeared the most damning. From 1940 to 1944, the automobile industry had worked over whelmingly for the Germans, delivering some 85 per cent of its produc tion to them. Collectively, French automobile companies had made a major contribution to Germany’s war effort, and as the industry’s political chief, Lehideux was deemed to be directly responsible.

NEW AND UNPROCESSED ARCHIVAL ACCESSIONS List Published: April 2020 Benson Ford Research Center The Henry Ford 20900 Oakwood Boulevard ∙ Dearborn, MI 48124-5029 USA [email protected] ∙ www.thehenryford.org New and Unprocessed Archival Accessions April 2020 OVERVIEW The Benson Ford Research Center, home to the Archives of The Henry Ford, holds more than 3000 individual collections, or accessions. Many of these accessions remain partially or completely unprocessed and do not have detailed finding aids. In order to provide a measure of insight into these materials, the Archives has assembled this listing of new and unprocessed accessions. Accessions are listed alphabetically by title in two groups: New Accessions contains materials acquired 2018-2020, and Accessions 1929-2017 contains materials acquired since the opening of The Henry Ford in 1929 through 2017. The list will be updated periodically to include new acquisitions and remove those that have been more fully described. Researchers interested in access to any of the collections listed here should contact Benson Ford Research Center staff (email: [email protected]) to discuss collection availability. ACCESSION NUMBERS Each accession is assigned a unique identification number, or accession number. These are generally multi-part codes, with the left-most digits indicating the year in which the accession was acquired by the Archives. There, are however, some exceptions. Numbering practices covering the majority of accessions are outlined below. - Acquisitions made during or after the year 2000 have 4-digit year values, such as 2020, 2019, etc. - Acquisitions made prior to the year 2000 have 2-digit year values, such as 99 for 1999, 57 for 1957, and so forth.
