For the 12th annual Waitangi Day commemoration event, the trustees of Ashburton Multi Cultural Trust were forced into a shift from Baring Square East due to ongoing con- struction in the Ashburton CBD. The new venue at the Ashburton Domain proved to be even more popular and prompted plenty of positive comments from the thou- sands of attendees. Chair of Ashburton Multi Cultur- al Trust, Thelma Bell, was delighted with the success of this year’s event. “It proved such a wonderful ven- ue that we were thinking we should have moved there a long time ago,” Bell said.
