 Eye screening for 621 villagers were carried out in three eye camps organized in peripheral villages of VSP i.e. , Gonthivanipalem and through “Nethrajyothi” van which was provided to Visakha Eye Hospital Trust, as a part of CSR initiative of RINL, VSP. Further Diabetic retinopathy screening for diabetic patients was also organized at Kala Hospital Visakhapatnam. Free cataract surgeries were carried out for the eligible beneficiaries. (991 free cataract surgeries have been done during the year financial year 2016-17)

Education  Chethana –Adult literacy programme, for empowering the adults who were deprived of the access of a normal schooling, is under progress for 500 beneficiaries at 20 centres located in surroundings villages of Plant & five tribal villages of Visakhapatnam District. A 6 day orientation programme for the teachers of all the centres was also organized during the month.

 Provision of basic amenities in the schools will make the learning an enjoyable and productive experience and in the process, reduce the dropout rates from schools. With a view to address the infrastructural deficiencies in Govt. schools, construction of an additional building consisting of two class rooms at MPP School Dosuru and a kitchen for the mid-day meal scheme at MPP School Pittavanipalem has taken up. The buildings were inaugurated and handed over to the respective school authorities for utilization.

Skill Development  Kaushal: Placement based Skill Development programme on Sewing Machine Operator Training for SC women taken up through National Scheduled Caste Finance & Development Corporation (NSFDC) for 37 beneficiaries at Nandyal & Visakhapatnam have been completed.

 Saksham: Vocational training in various trades viz. Mobile repairing, Arya works, solar system repair & maintenance, LMV driving, Cutting & tailoring, Beautician Course has been taken up in 10 centres for 300 beneficiaries belonging to the RH colonies, surrounding villages and tribal areas. Classes for LMV Driving, Beautician Course and Arya Works have been completed. Training is in progress in Mobile repairing, solar equipment repair & maintenance & Cutting & tailoring courses.

Peripheral Development  ‘Ukku Kalavedika’- Multipurpose hall constructed at Gangavaram and “Sangah Mithra”- community hall constructed at Kanithi SC colony were handed over to respective Community Welfare Centre committees to put them into operation for the benefit of villagers. The halls serve the residents of RH colony & its surrounding villages for conducting social functions and other skill development programmes.

 Roof sheeting work for Hud-hud cyclone affected houses in slum areas of Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation has been taken up through the funds provided by NMDC. The above work is under progress in GVMC wards.

CSR @ RINL March-2017 Sports  Sports meet for Special Children: A sports meet to boost the confidence levels of Special children by providing them a platform to showcase their talents was organized at Ukku Stadium in association with Sports Department. Around 300 Special Children from 12 Special Schools in Visakhapatnam District enthusiastically participated in the event. Trophy was presented to the special school which won the overall championship.

Sanitation  The project for providing RO water to Islampeta and Madinabagh villages has been taken up. The installation of the RO plant is completed at Islampeta. The civil works are under progress at Madinabagh.

 e-Toilets: Two e-toilets have been installed at tri-weekly market, Ukkunagaram through VMS for the benefit of the vendors and other customers visiting the market. The e-toilets, the first of its kind in Ukkunagaram, were inaugurated by Director (Operations), RINL- VSP. These e-toilets will further help in improving the township environment and also address the problem of open defecation in the township to a great extent.

 A Sanitation awareness programme covering 51 students was conducted at MPP School, , wherein the importance of cleanliness and conservation of environment was explained through audio visual medium. A cleanliness drive involving the school children was also organized at the school to impart awareness of the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Safai Pakhwada

 Safai Pakhwada was organized in CSM, F&A and IA&SV Departments during first fortnight and in General Administration, TTI, CSR and Agro Forestry Departments during the second fortnight of March 2017 respectively. The Cleanliness drives were conducted with great enthusiasm and witnessed wide participation of the employees. Senior executives of respective departments participated in the activities to motivate the employees.

Agro Forestry

 CSR Department took up fortnight long Safai Pakhwada activities in the department. Activities like Swachhta Sapath, Shraam daan in the department were taken up. Further, with a view to impart the ‘Swachhta’ awareness among the communities, cleanliness campaigns involving beneficiaries of various CSR programs and Bala Swachhta Jagruthi – awareness session on personal hygiene in School etc. were organized during the fortnight.

Cashless Transaction Awareness  14 (Fourteen) Cashless transaction awareness sessions have been conducted at CSR project venues of Adult literacy programme, Vocational/ Skill Development programmes, eye camps, Roof sheeting works etc. during March 2017 and covered 264 beneficiaries.

 A session on digital transaction awareness through Bank of resource person was organized at CMD conference hall for the employees of Administration Building on 20.03.2017.

 Cashless transaction and awareness programmes were organized at Jaggyyapet Lime Stone Mines and Madharam Dolomite Mines for the benefit of the employees through State Bank of India officials.
