1 Prime Minister Visits Clementi and Ulu Pandan Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong recently visited Clementi and Ulu Pandan on 5 Apr 2014, during which he mingled with residents, and held a dialogue session with community leaders.

Mr Lee was given a warm welcome by Members of Parliament (MPs) for West Coast GRC - Mr Arthur Fong who was the host MP, Mr S Iswaran, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry, Mr Cedric Foo and Ms Foo Mee Har. They made their first stop at the Market and Food Centre at Block 448 Clementi Avenue 3 where they interacted with residents and stallholders, and even sat down for a breakfast at the food centre.

Mr Lee then proceeded to the Clementi Arts and Cultural Festival at the Clementi Town Centre. His visit ended with a closed-door dialogue session with community leaders at the Clementi Community Centre.

2 RESIDENTS GET NEW SHELTERED DROP-OFF PORCH

Come rain or shine, residents of Pioneer Zone 9 precinct, and parents with children in the nearby childcare centres will now have another convenient location to drop their family members off.

The newly completed sheltered drop-off porch cum covered walkway located between Block 601 and 613 Jurong West Street 62 was initiated by Mr Cedric Foo, Adviser to Pioneer Sheltered drop-off porch and covered walkway at Grassroots Organisations to complement his on-going Block 601 and 613 Jurong West Street 62 initiative to build more early childhood development and childcare centres in Pioneer estate. Other complementary improvement projects in progress includes upgrading playgrounds near to new childcare centres.

Parents with children at the childcare centre near Block 601 and 613 couldn’t agree more. A mother said, “The new sheltered drop-off porch cum covered walkway is really convenient. Now, it doesn’t matter if it rains or shine, I know I can get my child to the centre nice and dry!” Playgrounds to be upgraded Pandan Gardens Park Connector opens Residents can enjoy their regular walks and jogs at the Pandan Gardens Park Connector which extends from West Coast Road to the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), running through residential areas and connecting to Pandan Reservoir and its fitness corner. The other end of the Pandan Gardens Park Connector is linked to Ulu Pandan Park Connector, which takes you through the Ghim Moh and Holland Grove estates, and Dover MRT Station. The Pandan Gardens Park Connector forms part of the Park Connector Network (PCN) island-wide under National Parks Board (NParks).

While using the park connectors, residents can also take in the relaxing atmosphere of Sungei Ulu Pandan and Sungei Pandan @ Pandan Gardens which have undergone the Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) Waters Programme under the Public Utilities Board (PUB).

Pioneer Generation Package The Pioneer Generation Package was the topic of the day as 200 Ayer Rajah senior residents joined Ms Foo Mee Har, Adviser to Ayer Rajah Grassroots Organisations in a dialogue session to explain its benefits to the residents. First to Jurong Bird Park then to Lunch Boon Lay residents had a fun-filled outing to Jurong Bird Park on 16 Mar 2014 with their family and friends. They roamed the Park enjoying the interaction with a kaleidoscope of birds and were tickled by the birds’ show-stopping antics during the bird show. Showcasing Clementi’s talents A showcase of Clementi’s artistic and cultural talents drew over 2,000 enthusiastic visitors on 5 Apr 2014. Students, residents and interest groups from the grassroots community came for the event, which was graced by Prime Minister, Mr Lee Hsien Loong during his community visit. Pongal-O-Pongal Pioneer celebrated Pongal with buzz and colour on 26 Jan 2014. Family Sports Fiesta @ West Coast Clementi Woods was a hive of activity on 2 Mar 2014 when more than 500 West Coast residents bonded over a fun-filled morning at the Family Sports Fiesta. Families and neighbours enjoyed themselves with activities like discovery walk, telematches, team relay and other games.
