School Awards for Meritorious Achievement in the WCED’s 2018 Language and Mathematics systemic tests, Grades 3, 6 and 9

Overall Improvement in Academic Performance: Grades 3 and 6

The WCED presents awards for improvement to 15 ordinary public schools that have shown the greatest improvement in the Grades 3 and 6 Language and Mathematics tests for the period 2016, 2017 and 2018.

The Department will measure improvement by the increase in the number of learners who achieved more than 50% in the tests during this period.

The WCED will present awards in this category to ten (10) schools with enrolments of 600 or more learners, and five (5) schools with enrolments of less than 600.

The schools will each receive a certificate as well as R10 000 for the purchase of learning and teaching materials.

In the first category of 600 and more learners, awards are presented to: 548 schools were involved in the writing of the tests.

The WCED will present awards for improvement to 10 ordinary public schools that have shown the greatest improvement in the Grade 9 Language and Mathematics tests for the period 2016, 2017 and 2018.
