Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 3 A Famine In America? by Jimmy R. Price www.jimmyrprice.com

A famine is a devastating condition in which there is a tremendous lack of food for an extended period of time. Most of the time it is caused by a severe drought (no rain- no crops).

While parts of the USA have experienced some drought conditions at times, famine is basically unknown in our country. We have been so blessed with an abundance of resources, that we are the envy of much of the world. However, the Bible speaks about a different kind of famine. Amos 8:11 says, “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.” The Bible is the Word of God. There is a no shortage of Bibles in our country today. There is a tremendous shortage, however, of hearing and doing what God’s word teaches. The direction our nation has been moving in is definitely away from God and His Holy Word. Are we facing a famine in America? A Famine of God’s Word? Some might say, “Why do we need God’s word? We are a modern and educated people.” Here are three reasons: I. Without God’s Word There is No Freedom In John 8:31-32, Jesus said, “If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed: and ye shall know the truth and truth shall make you free.” The Bible is true! Truth brings freedom! Politicians have turned away from the Bible, Supreme Court decisions have been in direct opposition to God’s word. The Ten Commandments have been taken down from the walls and halls of our public buildings. Our freedom is hanging in the balance. No truth – No freedom! II. Without God’s Word There is No Foundation Jesus said in Matthew 7:26-27, “And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” This great country was founded and built upon “the rock” (the Bible). It has withstood the storms of wars, economic hard times, and enemies that hate us. More and more it seems that we have been moving away from the Word and trying to rebuild on the shifting sands of humanism and relative moralism. In other words, man has decided that we know better than God. Since the beginning, God said marriage was one man- one woman – for life. Our so-called “justices” trashed the Word and declared that all 50 states must accept what God has called an abomination (same sex marriage). The Bible says that parents must love their children and “bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Over 50 million babies have been aborted since 1973 in America! III. Without God’s Word There is No Faith The Apostle Paul says in Romans 10:17, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Without Biblical faith, there is no real faith at all. Faith in anything other than God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit is useless, powerless and destructive. We are rapidly moving toward becoming a faithless nation! How can we prevent this Famine in America? We must turn back to the Bible! Read it, study it, preach it, teach it, live it! We must stand up for Biblical values! No time to be silent – time to be bold! We must hold our leaders accountable! We can vote, we can impeach – they’ll get the message!

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 4 Unity vs. Division By Marty Smith

I found these two definitions in the dictionary: Unity 1-the state of being one; oneness. 2-a whole or totality as combining all its parts into one. 3-the state or fact of being united or combined into one, as of the parts of a whole; unification.

Division 1-the act or process of dividing; state of being divided. 2-something that divides or separates; partition. 3-separation by difference of opinion or feeling; disagreement; dissension. There is a lot of division in the world today. Countries are fighting other countries, people fighting people, special interest groups fighting special interest groups, family members fighting family members, it goes on and on. Unfortunately, it bleeds into the music industry as well. As members of the Body of Christ, we all have a part to play in this grand scheme of life. Each one of us has been called by God to do a certain job. We shouldn’t feel we’re in competition with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are a body of believers, a team of believers called by God to spread His Word. If we are called by God to spread His Word through Christian , our first and foremost thought should be, “It’s all about Him, not me”. If we all got on the same page we would be a force to be reckoned with. Think about this for a minute. If we were all focused with one thought, one goal in mind, nothing but the Hand of God could stop us in the Christian Country Music Industry, would you agree? If all of the Christian Country radio stations and all of the artists, record companies and organizations were all on the same page, where would Christian Country be today? Something to think about.

by Pastor Dr. Doug DeRamus You can visit Doug DeRamus at: www.facebook.com/dougderamus

This message is not about something that is going to happen. It is about something that has already happened. However, like every- thing of God, it has to be received. You cannot have faith and believe that God is going to do something. You can only have faith that God has done something. We don’t believe because it is going to be true. We believe because it is true. We don’t believe because God is going to do something. We believe because God has done something.

Jesus said where I go you cannot come (Jn. 13:33). Then Jesus told Peter in John 13:36 that Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now.

The reason was because the way was yet to be prepared. Then He prepared a place and said He was THE WAY. Now, THE WAY needs to be prepared in your mind. That's up to you.

Jesus said in John chapter 14 that in His Fathers house were many mansions or dwelling places. When Jesus walked the earth, He was the house of the Father. He was the temple of God. He was misunder- stood when He said, destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up again (Jn. 2:19-21). The Jews said that it took forty-six years to build this temple and you are going to destroy and rebuild it in three days? He spoke of the temple of His body.

Jesus was the Fathers house or house of the Father and in Him, there is a dwelling place for you. He said, that He would go and prepare a place for you and come again and receive you unto Himself. Here is the key. He had told them that where He was going they could not come until He prepared a place. He said, where I am, there you may be also. The key word here in this chapter is "where I am, there you may be also".

John 14:5-6 (5) Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? (6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. KJV

This is one of the most powerful statements in the entire New Testament. This is Jesus talking about the WAY being prepared so you and I could loose our identity and be found fully in Christ Jesus. This is a statement concerning the full restoration of fallen man to be a part of the glory that Jesus had with the Father before the world was.

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 6 Continued from previous page.

Jesus said I am going to bring you where I am. Where are you? I am with the Father. I am going to show you "where He is". He said, I am going to take you where I am that you may be also.

If you had known me you should have known my Father also. Philip said, Lord show us the Father. Jesus said, if you have seen me you have seen the Father.

John 14:7-9 (7) If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. (8) Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. (9) Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? KJV

To know Jesus is to know the Father. To see Jesus is to see the Father. Jesus said I am in the Father and the Father is in me.

Let’s recap a little. Jesus said, where I go you cannot come until the way is prepared. Then Jesus said that He was the way. Then Jesus said that He was going to bring us to where He was. Then He said where He was, was in the Father.

In John 14:10-11, Jesus said He was in the Father and the Father was in Him. So where is He taking you? To where He is. Where is He? ONE WITH THE FATHER. Where He is... Is in the Father.

I am going to prepare a place for you. Where at? In my Father's house. Who is the Father’s house? Answer, Jesus.

Emanuel... God with us... revealed in us. He did not come and die just to leave you and go to glory for 2000 years and leave you in a mess until he came back some day. The whole idea that He is letting you go through this life testing you on how well you can handle things is silly. He is still Emanuel. He is still God with us. You can't walk in what you don't believe. And you can't believe what you don't receive. See – faith is elastic and stretchy And no matter what you’re going through, it grows to whatever size we need it to be. So it’s ok to ask for the “IMPOSSIBLE.” Expect the ENORMOUS. Make way for the MIRACULOUS. Because when God said He could do all things, He really meant He could do ALL THINGS. ~Keion Jackson

“God’s great design in all His works is the manifestation of His own glory. But how shall the glory of God be manifested, or shown, to such fallen and sinful creatures as we are? Our eyes do not have blinders on them, and the purest of us are not single focused. We, more often than not, are glancing sideways towards our own honor and we estimate our own powers and abilities too high. Because of these traits in us, we are not qualified to behold the glory of the Lord” (Charles Spurgeon).

I have often taken friends and visitors to the beautiful Flat Top Wilderness. Often they want the experience for more personal reasons than to behold the awesomeness of God’s creation. Even as they are riding through all that beauty their minds are on themselves. They want a picture of themselves to show someone back home; they want to learn how to ride a horse in a day and feel like John Wayne; they are making sure their “one day a year” specially purchased riding boots and hat are not getting scuffed or dirty, and the list goes on. Some get pretty focused on just staying on the horse. All these thoughts and emotions steal the moment and much of the glorious scenery is passed by without even being noticed.

The only way for you and I to become qualified to behold the glory of the Lord is to realize and conclude that us, self, must stand out of the way so that there may be room for God to be exalted. This is the reason that, often times, God leads His people through hard times and doesn’t always deliver us immediately out of our difficulties. In doing this, we are made aware of our own foolishness and weakness and then we can be made fit to behold the majesty of God when He steps in to work our deliverance.

In some of my horse riding experiences, I have ridden through fun narrow streams and shallow creeks. I am elevated above these little eddies of running water feeling very safe and secure. I have also ridden through raging rivers and strong currents of ravine filled rushing waters from cloud bursts, and it is then I realize how insignificant and weak I really am. I have been taken under for long periods of time and feared I would not live through it.

The person whose life is an even and smooth path will see little of the glory of the Lord. A trouble free life gives few occasions of self-emptying and doesn’t make us fit for being filled with the revelation of God. “Those who navigate little streams and shallow creeks of life know very little of the God of the tempests. Those who do business in great waters see His wonders in the deep” (Charles Spurgeon). In the huge ocean waves of heartache, financial stress, temptation, slander and ridicule we learn the power of God Almighty because we feel the littleness of ourselves.

A sense of my own folly is my first step in becoming wise. A blind man, who does not know where he is going, leans on his friends arm and safely reaches home. We, also, should give ourselves up completely to God's divine Word, work and guidance. Never doubting, always trusting that, though we cannot see, it is always safe to trust in the All-seeing God. If we are ever going to see the Glory of God, we must learn to let Christ live in us and see with His eyes our Heavenly Father.

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 9 Movers and Shakers of the Country Gospel Industry by Tommy Smith

Bob Terry Gospel Recording Artists’ Best Friend I have known Bob Terry for about fifteen years now. He and his wife Ruth are two of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met. Bob has worked hard as a DJ promoting Country Gospel and since 1989. His wife Ruth has been right there by his side sharing the passion to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to millions through this anointed music. As a Country Gospel recording artist, in the year 2000 I sent Bob a copy of my first release to . It was a song called “Preacher Man”. I did not know anything about compilation companies back then and neither did I know any Country Gospel music promoters. I did have years of experience in the secular record industry so I did exactly what I always did in that field of music. I got after it. I mailed out to about 800 stations, waited a week for the stations to receive and then started calling. Over a period of about three weeks I had called all of them. One of those stations was KJLO a 100,000 watt FM station in Monroe, Louisiana. I called and spoke to Mr. Bob Terry, the Gospel music Program Director. I introduced myself and asked Bob if he had received a copy of my single? He said he had and told me he had started it in light rotation. I was excited. Then he went on to tell me about different people in the industry that could help me and gave me names and phone numbers. Then he asked if I had a full project to send him. I explained I was working on one and hoped to have it finished in a few months. He told me when I had it finished to come to Monroe and he would dedicate a whole hour of time to interview me and promote the project. It took me about four months to finish. I then called Bob and he kept his word and invited me to come on to Monroe for our interview. We have been friends ever since.

Bob has helped countless others like me. He is dedicated to helping unknown artists get a break. He encourages them to perfect the calling that God has issued them and to reach the lost for Christ through their music ministry. After years of being in Monroe, Bob moved to Ruston, La. There he went to work at KXKZ FM another 100,000 watt station. He continued to play and continued promoting known and unknown artists alike. He was dedicated to helping others. Once more he had to move to be closer to his family, this time to Buffalo, New York. Before leaving Ruston he contacted another large FM station in Buffalo, WDCX FM. This was a 110,000 watt station that aired not only in New York but also a large part of Canada. They wanted the show. KXKZ Radio in Ruston did not want to lose Bob’s show, it was too popular. So an agreement was made that Bob would send the show each week from New York via Internet to Ruston, La. His show has been airing that way for about three years now. He has a potential audience of about eight million people.

Sunday Drive is not only one of my favorite Gospel groups, but a favorite of thousands all over the world. The group’s music is not only being heard on conventional over the air-ways radio but you can hear them on the worldwide Enlighten Radio satellite network. Their fans come from all walks of life. Just recently the most loved race car driver Dale Earnhardt’s mom and sister showed up to hear them in concert at North Kannapolis Methodist in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Dale's sister Kay Earnhardt Snipes, says that Dale learned how to drive from his mother Martha. “Mom had no time for slow poke drivers, she knew how to leave them behind and fast.” Jeff Treece of Sunday Drive said they had a great time at the church and a big thank you goes out to Pastor Ron Hartman for inviting them out there. Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 14 The Spirit Filled Parish Family Ronnie Parish by Tommy Smith I heard the Parish Family perform for the first time about five years ago in Pigeon Forge TN. Like everyone else I could feel the anoint- ing as soon as they sang the first few lines of their opening song. You could feel the Holy Spirit in the place, you knew they were the real deal, about Christ, about reaching those who do not know Him or touching the heart of those with a deep hurt inside. The messages of their songs offered hope and compassion. They made it very clear that Jesus is alive and well. He still heals the sick and mends the broken hearted. He came to bring us joy and peace abundantly and to set us free from the bondage of sin, to offer us a life with Him for eternity if we would just accept and believe. Call me old school but I still think that what Christian Music should be about is leading the lost to Christ, and reminding us all of His goodness. That is exactly what you see, hear and feel at a Parish Family concert. I have heard Kesha Parish them at least a half dozen or more times since that first concert and each time I walk away knowing the Parish Family are definitely called by God

The members of the group consist of, Kesha Parish the only girl in the group, her husband Ronnie and his brother Mark. All three are super talented. Kesha has the voice of an angel and both of the brother’s vocal work reaches the inner being of your soul as they sing from the heart. As a DJ, I am honored to be able to play their songs as often as I can and each time I do, I remind my audience that if the Parish Family comes to minister in their area, that they should surely turn out to see them or they will miss a real blessing! They are truly one of God’s best.

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 15 Continued from previous page. Mark Parish The Parish Family makes their home in Bainbridge, GA. They tell everyone they come in contact with that they are “dirt road Country” and not ashamed of it. They all come from a strong church back- ground and like so many of us, they drifted away from those teach- ings for a short period of time, performing and singing Country music. God had other plans for them. They answered His call, re-dedicating their lives & ministry to Him, never looking back, but going forward, carrying the Cross.

They have been blessed with four award winning CD’s. The first titled “Broken”, then came “The Parish Family”, the third “Back On The Wheel Again” and their newest CD, “Old House”. Each of these projects are tremendous and a must have for all Gospel Music lovers.

Chuck Hancock has done it again! His brand new release “Jesus I Believe” is now out to radio and promises to be another Top charting song for Chuck. The style of this song is totally different than anything Chuck has released. I have always believed that a great recording artist should always know when it is time to re-invent themself and Chuck has done just that. “Jesus I Believe” is a driving song with a very uplifting message.

DJ’s and radio personalities give it a listen. I think you will definitely want to give it a lot of spins.

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 16 JESSE REECE A Reason To Live

by Tommy Smith In this generation of young music entertainers it is very hard to find an artist who wants to be himself. Most want to sound and perform like someone else they admire. The industry calls them cookie cutters. Sadly enough the music industry is full of them. I remember looking at a website of a Christian Country singer a few years back and he boldly stated, “I am not like all these other Gospel singers. I don’t sound like them. I sound like or , you know today’s type of Country singer”. This artist had a major label deal. He had one regional hit song then lost his contract. It seems to me the world already had a Garth Brooks, and a George Strait and that was all they needed.

Saying all that, leads me to tell you about a young man that reminds me of the way musicians and singers used to be. They strived to be different and cultivate their own sound so that when you heard them on the radio you knew exactly who they were. Jesse Reece, a young Christian music entertainer is his own man. He wants to be different. He does not want to be a follower of men but a leader for Christ. Jesse’s family made sure that he followed the ways of Christ at a very early age. The family attended church regularly. At home they did their best to live their life by the Biblical principals taught to them in church.

When Jesse was in High School he did what so many of us do, he started following the ways of the world. He tried to live up to the standards of his peers and not the standards of God. Praise the Lord, it didn’t take long for the Holy Spirit to remind him of the background he had come from. He was a child of God, not the world. Jesse came back to his roots and started using the talent’s Christ had given him to glorify the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost through his songwriting and anointed vocal ability.

Recently, while talking to Jesse, he told me of the overwhelming pressure, that young people his age are experiencing in these times, not only from their peers, but also from society. So many go to College, get their degree, come out ready to go to work and yet can’t get a decent job. They are expecting to live the same lifestyle, immediately after graduating and going to work, as it took the generation before them thirty years to build up to. The cost of housing, food, utilities, transportation, and let’s not forget insurance, that is now forced on them by the government, takes more than they can earn. Continued on next page…

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 17 Continued from previous page. Only having one job isn’t enough, so most have to work two. This has left young people with very little hope for their future and too many of them feel like there is no reason to live. Too many try to escape these pressures through drugs, alcohol, and sadly many end up committing suicide.

Jesse says he wants to be a part of changing lives and giving hope to young and older people alike. He feels that Christ has called him. He wants all to know that Christ loves them and will take care of their needs if they will just have faith and learn to trust Him. Christ is a good father and a good father wants the best for his children. Jesse says that his Christian music platform provides him the opportunity to let young people know that through Christ there is hope, through Christ there is joy, through Christ all things are possible and most important, through Christ there is a “Reason to live, and a plan for your life”. Jesse loves to sing Country Gospel songs but if the audience he performs for wants something different, he can do that also, whether it’s Praise and Worship songs or a little Christian Rap. As I said earlier, Jesse is his own man and will do what it takes to get the message out through his music that “Jesus Saves”. Visit Jesse at his website http://jessereece.tmgartist.com/ and check out Jesse’s video “Reason To Live” on YouTube. Contact Jesse at: (205) 367-2206 or chat with him on Facebook.

My dear cousin and I were walking through our local cemetery recently and talking about our loved ones who had gone on to be with Jesus. We were reminisc- ing old times and looking forward to being with them and Jesus someday. We walked on and talked about many tombstones that belonged to people that we had known and some we didn't. The saddest thing for us was to know there were people we had known, who had passed on without knowing Jesus as their Savior. Heartbreaking!

You know when we die, we are dead...... according to the world. But we know as Christians that when we take our last breath, LIFE is just beginning for us, for all eternity. But…What about the lost that die??? A terrible death awaits and begins for them, forever and ever and ever. How heavy and sad this makes my heart.

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 18 Tina Wakefield Not Ashamed of Her Country Gospel Roots by Tommy Smith

Tina will tell you she is a country girl born and raised in the great state of Alabama. Alabama, the state that produced the greatest country singer in the history of Country music “”. She will tell you her entire family either sang good old fashioned Country Gospel, played a musical instrument or were ministers of the word of God.

“Listening to my family pick and grin as a young kid,” she recalls, “brought such joy to my heart. They often would sing some of those great anointed . When they did, I would think to myself, that someday I too would sing and write songs for God.” Tina was true to her family roots. As she grew and matured in Christ’s teachings she started singing first, then writing songs for Him. She sang in church, local Opry’s and anywhere they would let her sing good ole Country Gospel music.

Because of Tina’s faithfulness he sent her the man of her dreams, husband Houston Wakefield. They have two children and two grandchildren. Houston, like Tina strived to live a Godly life. They raised their children up to have strong Christian values. They instilled in them the value to be faithful to God’s church. Now that they are grown the whole family serves their local church in Alabaster, Alabama. Tina is music minister for Amazing Grace Worship Center. Houston, along with son Kenny, plays musical instruments for the church. Daughter-in-law Brittany serves as the praise minister. The youngest daughter Rachel, now 21 years old, attends the church faithfully with her ministry being a good listener and being a help to others. Needless to say Tina is very proud of her family.

God has blessed Tina with four of her own excellent Country Gospel CD’s. “God Is Walking”, “Tina Wakefield”, “Take 2”, and last but not least, “Something I Can Feel”. Two of my favorite singles from these projects are: “I Will Bless Him” and “So Much To Thank Him For”. Both songs have been released nationally to radio by HMG and both have been Top-charting songs. The style of music Tina sings is timeless just like the word of God. Go to Tina’s website and listen for yourself. www.tinawakefield.com.

If you love good true Country then you will love her Country Gospel.

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 19 Wyatt Nations Not Self-Called, God Called by Tommy Smith Once in awhile an artist comes along that sings and writes songs that you can truly feel the anointing as they perform their songs in person or on CD. Such is the case of a new Country Gospel artist on the scene by the name of Wyatt Nations. Wyatt sings from the heart. When he sings a song about Christ you feel the love and passion that he has for Him. You can tell it’s real. Not only is Wyatt’s name unique, but also his personality. Unlike most of the new young male Country Gospel artists that enter into this Christian music genre he never brags on himself, every word that comes out of his mouth is not about me, me, me. Wyatt always asks what he can do to better his music ministry and be the best he can be for Christ. He listens and learns, he lets you know right up front that all this is new for him and the reason he is in it is because he heard God’s calling and answered “Lord, I will obey.”

So many artists start their conversations off by saying I was “Called” to this ministry. Now there are two types of calling, self called and God called. Those who are self called always speak more about themselves than about Christ. They always try to leave the Gospel message out of their songs or foolishly believe that they can win more souls to Christ by leaving his name out of the song. This is a slap in the face to Christ. That’s like telling Him he has no power to save. He is the savior and all that come to Him must be ready to surrender. Those who are called know this and they are never ashamed of the Lord’s name. They definitely know there is power in the name of Jesus.

Those that are self-called will spend a fortune trying to build their ministry, and believe me there are many wolves out there waiting to help them spend that fortune. Those that are called by God will wait for God’s perfect timing in all things. They will be good stewards with the gifts God has given them and most importantly they put God’s name first and their name last in all they do. A self-called ministry will come tumbling down just like Babylon.

A God called ministry will rise to the top and produce good fruit. Wyatt Nations’ ministry is producing good fruit. His first CD “No Greater Love” is full of love songs and songs with a commitment to Christ. His first single to radio “If It Satisfies You Lord” is getting a tremendous amount of airplay and in a few short months has climbed up to song number forty-four in Cashbox Magazine and the Christian Servant Magazine “Country For The Good Life Top 100” chart. Do yourself a favor and order Wyatt’s “No Greater Love” CD. You can find it on iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon.com or simply go to his website www.wyattnations.org. You can also call Wyatt and bless him with encouragement. You can reach him at: (806)729-0751 or chat with him on Facebook at: www.facebook.com/wyattnationsmusic. Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 20 How To Sell Your Music In Today’s Market by Chip Bricker

I’m often asked, How can I sell my music? Well, in today’s internet driven society, it is not as easy as it might seem. The following are some options you should consider.

E – sites Internet sales sites designed to sell music should have your material there. I-tunes, Amazon etc, are great sites to have your music on. There are also many other sites that target specific demographics within the Christian market that would be great to get your material on depending on the target demo you are trying to reach with your music. Once you have your music on these sites, then you should send the links to these sites, as well as samples of your music out on social media to drive folks to the sites. For example, if your music is really in the traditional country style, you might check out I2Irecords.com. They offer a great outlet for shopping by the traditional country fan. Several traditional country gospel artists are being added by the day. Physical stores It is almost impossible to get your independent music into major market stores today due to buy-back rules and incredible fees and commission rates per project. As an example; A record company sold 20000 units to the dealer that stocked K-Mart, WAL-MART, and Target. The distributor pays wholesale for the product then deducts their percentage for selling it, takes out the store’s percentage and the fees to use the store space. If the store does not sell the product within 180 days, then the store charges an un-stocking fee as well as a chargeback for the product. So it ends up costing the artist about 20% more than what they sold it for to the distributor in the first place. On the other hand, if you know that you have thousands of followers and they will for sure buy whatever product you put out, then by all means go for in-store sales.

Your own website If you can afford the cart fees for this, I believe this to be a very valid way of marketing your own material as well as yourself. You can use social media to drive buyers to your website where you give them a sample of your material and give them a chance to order the physical product or download the album right there. While visiting your website, the potential buyer can also learn more about your ministry and other products or services you may offer.

Third Party Marketers This is probably the cheapest and most widely used method today. One example would be CDBaby.com. They also will link you to Amazon, Rhapsody, etc. They charge a fee for this and also make sure that you pay and/or have paid you mechanical licensing for the songs that someone else owns the rights to. You still should use social media as well as your own site to send potential buyers to this site through the links that they provide. This site will also track the use of any material that they represent for you, if it is used in other social media ways. But that is another article.

Continued on next page…

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 21 Continued from previous page. Physical On-Site or On-Table Sales Still, the majority of Christian artists sell the most products on their tables at their concerts. If you are not doing concerts, you probably aren’t moving much merch. Organize your merch table where all products are in plain view with the merch you need to sell most being the most visible. Have your merch folks know your product well and be able to guide the buyer to the product that has that one special song that they want. This means a lot to the buyer when the merch seller shows knowledge of the merchandise. Keep the merch table neat and friendly with as much detail about your ministry as it can possibly have. This method has the highest profit potential and is the most personal, and that’s what is missing in most Christian artists sales today. Thus, sales are at an all-time low.

Remember, Keep the Main Theme, the Main Thing. And that is God’s message first. Until Next Time, Chip Bricker

Gayla Earlene continued from page 18.

You know, a cemetery may not be a most desirable place to visit but it sure is powerful to the facts of life and death. Maybe this isn't something you've ever pondered, but maybe just a thought about it could be a catalyst for you to go share LIFE with somebody who doesn't know Jesus. In our “Walk Among The Tombstones”, we praised God for His mercy, grace and unconditional love for us.

He sent His Son Jesus to die for all of our sins so we could be forgiven and accepting of His undying love. So as we take our last breath on earth, our new life and breath begins and remains forever, in His presence.

Jesus says, "I am the resurrection and the life, He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live." John 11:25 That makes me get excited and shout!! How 'bout you?

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 22 Peace in His Presence Time With Him by John Randolph

"Come to me, all who are weary and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

So many times in life - especially on weekends like this - I get caught up in all of the goings on around me. The fellowship, stories, the laughter and just general hanging out with friends that have a passion for sharing the gospel. We don't realize how much we need that as human beings. The connection; the refueling and the love that comes from others.

God did not design us to be singular objects. He designed our hearts to be hearts that need to be connected to others. More than that, He designed our hearts with holes in them that can only be filled by spending time in His presence, soaking up His word; seeking His face in prayer.

I was reminded of that after I got back to my hotel room one night after another very long day of festivities at the ICGMA. My feet were killing me, my legs hurt, my back was all tied up in knots from standing all day and laughing, singing, talking, joking and sharing. Since it was after 11 o'clock when I got in bed I didn't have the strength or energy to crack open my Bible and spend time in quiet with Him. And then this morning, rolling out of bed immediately hitting the road and heading back to the convention center I left him sitting in my room wondering when we were going to have our time together. It's amazing though how He orchestrates our lives when He knows what we need to continue on.

A couple of commitments late this morning and early this afternoon distracted me as everybody left at lunch. When I realized that the majority of the crowd had left to grab a bite to eat, I decided rather than track them down I’d head to a local eatery and spend time with my Father. As I cracked open His word, Matthew 11:28-30 jumped off the page with a whole new meaning.

Rest. Peace. Gentle. Humble. Lighter burden. All of these are found in His presence. All of these are found at the foot of the cross. All of these are found when we take the time to plug back in to the power source of our lives. Our Father created us to be just like any other object that runs on battery-operated power. Sooner or later those batteries are going to die and need recharging. The only way to get that done is to plug it back into its power source. Our power source is Him; His presence; His word; praising Him for His infinite love, mercy and grace that he showers down on us! Continued on next page…

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 23 Continued from previous page. He has called you and me to a purpose; to a task. He has also created us for one simple purpose that is bigger than anything we are called to “do” – To worship God and enjoy Him forever!

Spend time with Him and let Him recharge your soul and refuel your passions. What are you waiting for?

THE WAR ROOM By Brad Wilson

If you listen close enough you will hear something that sounds like someone scratching their head. Well that’s EXACTLY what that sound is. That is the sound of Hollywood executives scratching their heads. They are wondering how a lower budget, on the money faith based movie that is marketed to the faith based community can surpass all other big zillion dollar studio films to become #1 at the box office over the important Labor Day weekend film releases.

The movie “WAR ROOM” is about a seemingly perfect couple who must use faith to deal with the battles in their lives. The "War Room" refers to praying strategically, and in the film, one of the characters has a room where she does just that. The film is changing lives no doubt. One case in point is a reporter who interviewed the director of the film and broke down in tears! The reporter then went home and made his own war room. His life got back on track and his life was changed for the better. The Kendrick brothers (“FACING THE GIANTS,” “FIRE PROOF,” “COURAGEOUS”) have done it again with “WAR ROOM!” Film is such a powerful tool to change the life of people around the world. For filmmakers like these thank God they choose to use film for the glory of God. Prayer is SO powerful! This film shows just how powerful is can be. See it with your entire family and make prayer a big part of your life. Prayer works! Visit Brad Wilson and Higher Purpose Entertainment at: www.higherpurposeentertainment.com

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 24 If We Listen To The “Coach”, We’ll Be On The Winning Team by Roger Barkley, Jr. Well, it’s here. The long practices, going over the rule changes for this year, reading the playbook, sleepless nights worrying about the right way to go on the field, hoping for the right referees to be in place. Trying to decide which team to root for? Hoping that if you decide on one team over the other no matter for what reason that somebody in the family may be mad, hurt, upset or even disown you?

Sounds like headlines across America and social media. You can’t open your eyes without seeing something about choices. The problem is, with seeing so many choices, some are not seeing the real choice in the story. Whether you are for the popular team of the day (which will change from time to time) or for the underdog, someone will always be unhappy that you did not side with them. Interesting word (side). By definition alone we can see that if it has a side there has to be more than one. There has to be a middle in where both sides meet. It seems that my side is being taken away from me these days. But if I take a stand for my team I am told it’s because I hate another team. I guess I am just one of those crazy fanatics (the word from which we get the word fan) that gets so excited about my team that I would love to share my love for the head coach with everybody. He has the best playbook I have ever read from cover to cover. The team itself is not comprised of what you would call star athletes. We have a bunch of ragtag misfits, recovering alcoholics, drug addicts, thugs, murderers, thieves, and the list goes on. However, the head coach had our records expunged. He knew the judge and got us out on kind of a work release program. Some of us have different jobs on the team that pretty much fit us but it works when we listen to the coach and coaching staff. We of course have our cheerleaders too. Some have been here for a while and can’t cheer as loud or are just so tired of the other team winning they just sit there watching when we really need the encouragement. Our special aid department has a direct line with the head physician and can be called upon day or night to help fix what has been sprained or broken. Lately with some of the rule changes we have been asked not to play in certain areas but there are some other arenas asking for our team to extend our field of play to their area. While the rule makers are looking for ways to squeeze our team out, I am praying that our team takes our stand without taunting the other team, or running them into the ground verbally. Usually if our team shows up and listens to our coach we have no problems. I remember a few games where we listened to the coach and showed up to play ready in full gear and the other team just decided to give up before we even started. So basically I guess this short little ramble is to say this: It’s not always the bigger team with better stats that wins. Show up to the game prepared, without running your mouth, in full gear, listen to the coach…… the last thing we need is a renegade quarterback to deflate our work......

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 25 The International Country celebrated their 59th Annual Convention and Awards Show August 6th, 7th, & 8th at the West Plains Civic Center in historic West Plains, Missouri. The powerful ministry of Country Gospel Music was clearly evident, as singers and musicians repeatedly conveyed to the audience, “It's All About Him”! From the opening prayer to the closing ceremonies on the final evening, the presence of The Lord Jesus Christ was wonderfully evident.

Again this year the West Plains Civic Center was filled to capacity every night of the event. Artists and fans alike enjoyed outstanding talent as they performed Country Gospel, Bluegrass Gospel, and South- ern Gospel Music. Special guest appearances by fan favorites included country music legend , Del Way, Chris Golden, formerly with , Renae, The Waitress from the television show “Larry's Country Diner”, and Greg McDougal of Nashville. James Payne and Del Way entertained the crowd with a segment of their “Good Old Boys Like Us” presentation. Christian comedians Barry McGee, Bruce Walker, and Pastor Pudge delighted the fans with their country humor. There were a lot of new artists in Country Gospel music that joined us this year along with all the great veteran artists.

I was really impressed with the performances given by Jamie Lynn Flanakin a new female Country Gospel artist really making a name for herself this year. Jamie had her first single release out to radio “When My Room Is Ready” that peaked in Cashbox magazines Country Christian Top 100 chart at # 13 in April of 2015. Many had heard Jamie’s song on the radio but had never heard her sing live. They weren’t disappointed she was great. She says she will be with us next year for the 60th ICGMA Convention and Award show and I’m sure everyone will be glad to hear her sing and give testimony of Gods love, again. Jamie has a new release out to radio. Be listening for it. The song is titled “Who Loves Me More”.

Another artist that really impressed me was Johnny Rowlett. Johnny has been singing for Christ for many years. I had never had a chance to hear him live. I really like his latest release “The Truth Is” and found him to be a very polished Country Gospel singer and Christian entertainer. He is another example of the outstanding talent that serves Christ. God has the best.

Terry and Debra Luna flew in all the way in from California to be there. What a blessing it was to see and hear them perform again. They were on Saturday’s night show and as always they touched the hearts of all that were there with their beautiful anointed singing. The light of Christ shines through this couple.

Tamatha Hurst was another new artist at the convention. She made her mark and let everyone know that she is here to stay and called by God. Tamatha has excellent stage presence, her songwriting is tremendous and her vocal talent is awesome. I would like to congratulate her on her new single release “Nail Scarred Hands” now at #14 in Cashbox magazine Christian Country Top 100.

Brandon Pool, one of my favorite Country Gospel male artists, was also with us. As always was a crowd pleaser. Brandon is from Louisiana and he is real Country. His singing matches up to some of the greats in Country, like “Vern Gosden” or “David Houston”. You get the picture, true Country Gospel. It was really good to see Brandon again. Continued on next page…

Christian Servant Magazine - September, 2015 - Page 26 Continued from previous page.

Terry & Teresa Baker were a blessing to all that had a chance to hear them. This Country Gospel Duo sure have their hearts in the right place. They give God all the glory and praise in all that they do. They are veteran ministers for Christ. Not only have they served Him with their musical gifts of songwriting and talented vocal work but they have served Him for years as pastor and music ministers for churches across America. I look for good works to blossom from this couple. My brother in Christ, David Lemons also gave us a great performance. He always reminds us through song that Christ is alive and well and that He is still the great healer. David is truly a music minister. He uses his talent to see that souls are saved.

Well that is it for this edition. We’ll write more in the next issue about this year’s talent at the ICGMA Convention and Award show. Until next time may the Lord Bless you. All photos copyright © Michelle Cianflone 2015
