Cricket Memorabilia Society Postal Auction Closing at Noon 10
CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY POSTAL AUCTION CLOSING AT NOON 10th JULY 2020 Conditions of Postal Sale The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged or unsuitable, or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid no later than 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia for auction on its website no later than 3 weeks prior to the closing date of the auction. Bids will only be accepted from CMS members. Postal bids must be in writing or e-mail by the closing date and time shown above. Generally, no item will be sold below 10% of the lower estimate without reference to the vendor.. Thus, an item with a £10-15 estimate can be sold for £9, but not £8, without approval. The incremental scale for the acceptance of bids is as follows: £2 increments up to £20, then £20/22/25/28/30 up to £50, then £5 increments to £100 and £10 increments above that. So, if there are two postal bids at £25 and £30, the item will go to the higher bidder at £28. Should there be two identical bids, the first received will win. Bids submitted between increments will be accepted, thus a £52 bid will not be rounded either up or down. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will be sent by the cheapest rate commensurate with the value and size of the item. -

10072 Bob Laptop Woolmer and Eddie Desktop Barlow
10072 Bob Laptop Woolmer and Eddie Desktop Barlow Have you heard of Bob Woolmer, the former coach of South African cricket team? Unlike other conventional coaches, Woolmer relies on his laptop computer for storing and analyzing information on players, selecting team, planning match strategy etc. Since his laptop is his constant companion, people call him Bob Laptop Woolmer. Having seen Woolmer in action during World Cup ’99, the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) officials sacked Gordon Abacus Greenidge (he was not willing to use computers) and decided to appoint someone as charismatic as Woolmer for coaching Bangladesh cricket team. So, Eddie Barlow was appointed as the new coach. They say that he is no less than Bob Woolmer with his computer. Then why don’t you ever see him with his laptop? That is because he doesn’t have one! Actually, he has a desktop PC, and he loves his computer so much that people call him Eddie Desktop Barlow. Now, to select Bangladesh national team for the next World Cup, Barlow has asked BCB to call a number of players to BKSP camp, so that he can minutely observe them before selection. Accordingly, BCB invites around 100 players to join BKSP camp. Barlow’s strategy for selecting the best team is as follows. He will observe each player’s batting, bowling and fielding capabilities individually, and each player will have three individual scores in these three aspects (batting, bowling and fielding). He will store each player’s scores in his hard disk. After he has scored all the players in this way, he will use his computer to select the best combination. -

Much like the UN, the ICC brings representatives from all cricket-playing countries together to make administrative decisions about the future of cricket. Unlike the UN, however, not all countries have an equal input; the ICC decides which members are worthy of “Test” status (Full Members), and which are not (Associate Members). While the Council has experienced many successes, including hosting the prestigious World Cup and promoting cricket at a grassroots level, it also continues to receive its fair share of criticism, predominantly regarding the ICC’s perceived obstruction of the growth of the game within non- traditionally cricketing nations and prioritizing the commercialization of the sport over globalizing it. -
Australia Firmly in Control in First New Zealand Test
SPORTS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2016 Replay drama works in Australia’s favor WELLINGTON: Australia’s players feared another backlash from New Zealand fans after a contentious no ball decision went in their favor in the final over of the first day’s play of the first test yesterday. Adam Voges was batting on seven when he was bowled by Doug Bracewell with two deliveries remaining in the day’s play, only for umpire Richard Illingworth to signal a no ball. Television replays, however, showed the delivery was legal but because the no ball had been called New Zealand were unable to ask for a review. Australia finished the day on 147 for three, 36 runs behind New Zealand’s first innings tally of 183. The replay had the potential to create a backlash against the Australians similar to that they experienced after the final one- day international at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Monday. In that match, Mitchell Marsh was given not out caught and bowled on 41 with his side in charge of their run chase, only for the crowd to erupt into a chorus of boos when they saw a replay on the big screen that showed he had been dismissed. Marsh was then given out, creating an angry response from the all- rounder and batting partner Matthew Wade, while captain Steve Smith was booed at the end of the game when he questioned the decision. Australian media criticized the Hamilton crowd, calling them ‘feral’, while suggesting the controversy from the underarm bowling incident from a 1981 one-day match between the two sides had now been put to bed.
