Division 2 and 3 are still good, but division 1 is better. Lacrosse in college is developing very well, and there are so many great teams in college. has the most National Championships with 11, but the University of Johns Hopkins is very close trailing behind with nine. There are ten players on one team on the field at a time, so there would be 20 players on the field at once. There is one goalie, three defenders, three midfielders, and three attackmen. The defenders have to stay on the defensive side of the field. The midfielders can go anywhere on the field. The attackmen have to stay on the offensive side of the field. I play both middy and attack. Lacrosse is developing greatly for all ages (especially in western loudoun). There are so many kids that are starting to play lacrosse, and want to play lacrosse. The MLL is going to keep expanding because more people are playing the game. Lacrosse is a great sport and I love the game.

Wearing Bottles?

Have you ever thought that athletes could be wearing bottles? Well now they are! Nike made soccer kits (shirt and pants sold together) that are made entirely of recycled bot- tles. The countries that are wearing the shirts are Brazil, USA, Netherlands, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Si- beria, and Slovenia. The kits will be unveiled at Battersea Power Station in London, England. They are made to keep the players cooler, drier, and maximize performance. They were worn at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. You would think that these would cost more, right? Wrong, they cost the same at $70 US currency. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ At eight bottles per shirt Nike prevented about 13 mil- article-1253892/Nine-World-Cup- lion plastic bottles from going to waste in Taiwanese and sides-wear-shirts-entirely- Japanese landfills. Well, the name Nike came from the Greek goddess of Victory. The “swoosh” was drawn by Carolyn Davidson on a napkin. She got $35 and nothing more. FOOTBALL FROM THE BEGINNING! By : Ethan Moore.

The sport “football” can be traced back to early versions of rugby. Football grew to become a popu- lar sport like it is now. Native Americans even settlers at Jamestown played football! Students at Princeton played a game called “ballown”. It was very similar to football and rugby. The man who discovered foot- ball/created football was Walter Camp. Walter also was the captain of the Yale football team. He used the idea of rugby to create football but he needed rules. On October 20th, 1873 Yale, Columbia, Princeton, and Rugsters met at the 5th Avenue Hotel to make the rules and objectives of football. In 1921, several more teams joined the league, increasing the teams to 22 teams! That year the Green Bay Packers joined the league. In 1922, Chicago‟s name was Halas named after their coach George Halas. The Staley‟s, named after their coach Staley Swindle, and wins the 1921 AFPA championship, over the Buffalo All Americans. College football has spread during the last two decades! The NFL has grown to be the most spectated league in the United States!

LINEMEN It all starts here. Linemen are on the line of scrimmage and they come in contact with each other on HUT/HIKE. Their jobs are to protect the running backs. Sometimes the linemen have to make holes on the line of kayos for the running backs to run through. On special occasions they would line up like a flock of geese in the air, and plow over anyone who gets in their way! They are the most important people on football field. They make the plays happen!

QUARTER BACKS Quarter backs are located in the not least the tail back. He is located 5yds to the right or left of the linemen. All of those backs either go out for passes, get the ball snapped to them (not the tail back), or get a hand off (the tail back goes in motion to get the hand off). The are important because they are good fakers and another option instead of running the quarter back. In conclusion football is a rough contact sport that is played around the world. My opinion is that I love football!! Many people either watch football being played or they play football. This was my article about the history and positions of football. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fnQavGcwCo&safety_mode=true&persist_safety_mode=1&safe=active Works Cited
