The genus has been arranged by species (geographic regions) worldwide, but no formal levels below the genus are recognized. Recent efforts to evaluate phylogenetic relationships have been performed at the global scale for about 20 percent of the species in the genus. The genus is recognized as having subtle and variable morphological characteristics to define species limits. Several nuclear and chloroplast DNA methods have been used to construct phylogenetic relationships within the genus. Incongruences between various phylogenetic trees indicate likely hybridization and/or hybrid origin of multiple species and a genus blurred with a reticulate evolutionary past. Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) ribosomal DNA (rDNA) sequences were developed here and combined with other ITS sequences on Genbank for other North American species of Lepidium. Two phylogenetic trees were developed, one comparing North American and another dominated by Intermountain West species. -

Floristic and phytosociological surveys in NE-Tunisia allowed to discover Eclipta prostrata (Asteraceae) which represents the first record at national level. A description of the species, notes on its ecology and phytosociological remarks are provided. We also stated, for the first time in Tunisia, the status of naturalization of three species (Erigeron bonariensis, Symphyotrichum squamatum, and Lepidium didymum) which does not appear still published until now. Introduction Invasions by non-indigenous plant species has become an important component of glob- al environmental change (e.g., Mack & al. 2000). Ruderal environments as well as coastal and riverine habitats have often been reported to harbor many neophytes (Sobrino & al. 2002; Bruno & al. 2004; Dark 2004; Von Holle & Motzkin 2007; Chytrý & al. 2007). Discover the history of Warrnambool's streets Street Name Description Locality Length Origin of Street Name Abbey Lane A laneway running between Hyland and Hart Streets, south of Timor Warrnambool 495m Benjamin Abbey (1862-1943) served two terms as Councillor 1913-16 and 1920-30. Served as Mayor 1924-26 during the Street. building of the Municipal Chambers. Aberline Road A northerly continuation of McKiernan Road, running from the Moore Warrnambool 1917m Joseph Aberline (1809-1874) arrived in Warrnambool in 1849 after spending some years in New Zealand. His property, Street/Dales Road intersection north to Wangoom Road. "The Grove", built on Wangoom Road in the 1860s was the site of a brick-making enterprise established by his son, John (1854-1940) in 1891. It was from the Wangoom Road property that large boulders were taken for use as some of the filling A very old road that appears on an 1856 map of Warrnambool. for the Warrnambool breakwater. RICHDALE The Sooty Shearwater (Pufinus g&us) is the most common sea bird in New Zealand waters, where there must be several million individuals. From the last few days in September to the middle of November an observer on any of the headlands of the Otago Peninsula, New Zealand, may see this speciesflying south in an endless stream. The flight, however, is not continuous, for many pauses are made for feeding. It is on such occasionsthat huge flocks are noticed resting on the waters of various bays along the coast. This shearwater is locally known as the mutton-bird and the young are taken an- nually for food by those Maoris who have acquired ancestral rights. Europeans who are married to such natives also have a legal right to participate in these activities. Beginning on the first of April of each year, the season extends to about the middle of May. Although no exact tally is kept, it is estimated that nearly 250,000 birds are taken in a good season. The term “mutton-bird” is usually reserved for Pufinus griseus but to the Maori several species are included. In fact anything that is edible and can be “bagged up” is a mutton-bird. In this connection speciesinvolved in southern New Zealand include a bird known as the Korure, which is either Pterodroma inexpecta or P. cookii, or both. I have not yet had an opportunity to verify this point but both species live on some of the mutton-bird islands. - 
												
												Flora and Vegetation of the Island of Kalamos (Ionian Sea, Greece) – Floristic Analysis and Phytogeographical Aspects
HACQUETIA 14/1 • 2015, 307–318 DOI: 10.1515/hacq-2015-0002 FlorA And vegetAtIon oF the IslAnd oF KAlAmos (Ionian seA, greece) – FlorIstIc AnAlysIs And phytogeogrAphIcAl Aspects Evagelos BALIOUSIS* Abstract The floristic investigation of the Ionian island of Kalamos resulted in the addition of 275 specific and in- fraspecific taxa, which are reported here, to a present total of 502 taxa. For each newly recorded taxon local distribution and habitat types are presented. Convolvulus pentapetaloides and Malcolmia graeca subsp. hydraea are reported for the first time from the Ionian islands. Some of the new records concern rare taxa in Greece or regional endemics, which are, therefore, chorologically significant, such as Alkanna corcyrensis, Stachys ionica, Heptaptera colladonioides. A brief description of some of the vegetation types of the island is given. The results of floristic analysis and phytogeographical aspects demonstrate the pronounced Mediterranean character of the island’s flora. Izvleček Na otoku Kalamos smo s floristično raziskavo odkrili 275 novih taksonov na nivoju vrste in nižje ob do sedaj že poznanih 502 taksonih. Za vsak novo odkrit takson predstavljamo lokalno razširjenost in habitatni tip. Ta- ksona Convolvulus pentapetaloides in Malcolmia graeca subsp. hydraea smo na ionskih otokih našli prvič. Nekate- re nove najdbe so redki taksoni ali lokalni endemiti, kot so Alkanna corcyrensis, Stachys ionica, Heptaptera collado nioides in so horološko pomembni. Podali smo tudi kratek opis nekaterih vegetacijskih tipov otoka. Rezultati floristične analize in fitogeografskih vidikov kažejo izrazito mediteranski značaj preučevanega rastlinstva. (2012): Red List of vascular plants of the Czech Republic: 3rd edition. – Preslia 84: 631–645. The knowledge of the flora of the Czech Republic has substantially improved since the second ver- sion of the national Red List was published, mainly due to large-scale field recording during the last decade and the resulting large national databases. In this paper, an updated Red List is presented and compared with the previous editions of 1979 and 2000. The complete updated Red List consists of 1720 taxa (listed in Electronic Appendix 1), accounting for more then a half (59.2%) of the native flora of the Czech Republic. Of the Red-Listed taxa, 156 (9.1% of the total number on the list) are in the A categories, which include taxa that have vanished from the flora or are not known to occur at present, 471 (27.4%) are classified as critically threatened, 357 (20.8%) as threatened and 356 (20.7%) as endangered. From 1979 to 2000 to 2012, there has been an increase in the total number of taxa included in the Red List (from 1190 to 1627 to 1720) and in most categories, mainly for the following reasons: (i) The continuing human pressure on many natural and semi-natural habitats is reflected in the increased vulnerability or level of threat to many vascular plants; some vulnerable species therefore became endangered, those endangered critically threatened, while species until recently not classified may be included in the Red List as vulnerable or even endangered. -

Mark Edward Dickson Lord Howe Island, southwest Pacific 1 Abstract Lord Howe Island, situated 600 km east of Australia, provides a unique opportunity to study the development of rock coast landforms and the long-term planation of an oceanic island. The island is a remnant of a large shield volcano that was built by late-Miocene hotspot volcanism. Since this time, the island has gradually migrated northward into warmer seas, and marine planation, operating at a decreasing rate over time, has reduced the island to a vestige of the original volcano. Lord Howe Island currently lies at the southern limit to coral growth.
