Parking areas near Balfreish and take a winding route 2km to Dalcharn through Forestry Commission plantings. After Dalcharn we're in moorland, following Allt Dearg- I presume the Red Burn. In a space of 3km we see three waterfalls, none huge, the middle one is the prettiest and most dramatic. If we stop at 813420 where the burn forks the walk is entirely on tracks and can be pretty much guaranteed tick-free. If we continue to Carn Odhar for better views we would of course be going thro' some vegetation. Those interested in birds and other wildlife should take a binocular. A further point of interest is that we are walking through an area which has been "cleared" in our lifetime--at least in the lifetime of some of us! Not suitable for dogs.
