February 26, 2021 Amazon Warehouse Workers In
February 26, 2021 Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer, Alabama are voting to form a union with the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). We are the writers of feature films and television series. All of our work is done under union contracts whether it appears on Amazon Prime, a different streaming service, or a television network. Unions protect workers with essential rights and benefits. Most importantly, a union gives employees a seat at the table to negotiate fair pay, scheduling and more workplace policies. Deadline Amazon accepts unions for entertainment workers, and we believe warehouse workers deserve the same respect in the workplace. We strongly urge all Amazon warehouse workers in Bessemer to VOTE UNION YES. It stars Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried, playing Jennifer, the archetypal popular girl, and Anita “Needy,” her co-dependent best friend, respectively. Jennifer is a manipulative and overly sexual teenager who, as the result of a satanic ritual, is possessed by a demon and starts devouring her male classmates. Knowing that her friend is a menace, Needy decides she has to stop her. The marketing strategy behind Jennifer’s Body capitalized on Megan Fox’s emerging status as a sex symbol after her role in Transformers (dir. Michael Bay, 2007), as can be seen in the promotional poster (see fig. 1) and in the official trailer, in which Jennifer is described as the girl “every guy would die for.” The movie, which was a flop at the time of its release (grossing only $31.6 million worldwide for a film made on a $16 million Figure 1: Promotional poster budget) was criticised by some reviewers for not giving its (male) audience what it promised. -

Boardwalk Empire
BOARDWALK EMPIRE "Pilot" Written by Terence Winter FIRST DRAFT April 16, 2008 EXT. ATLANTIC OCEAN - NIGHT With a buoy softly clanging in the distance, a 90-foot fishing schooner, the Tomoka, rocks lazily on the open ocean, waves gently lapping at its hull. ON DECK BILL MCCOY, pensive, 40, checks his pocket watch, then spits tobacco juice as he peers into the darkness. In the distance, WE SEE flickering lights, then HEAR the rumble of motorboats approaching, twenty in all. Their engines idle as the first pulls up and moors alongside. BILL MCCOY (calling down) Sittin' goddarnn duck out here. DANNY MURDOCH, tough, 30s, looks up from the motorboat, where he's accompanied by a YOUNG HOOD, 18. MURDOCH So move it then, c'mon. ON DECK McCoy yankS a canvas tarp off a mountainous stack of netted cargo -- hundreds of crates marked 'Canadian Club Whiskey·. With workmanlike precision, he and .. three CREWMAN hoist the first load of two dozen crates up and over the side, lowering it down on a pulley. As the net reaches the motorboat: MURDOCH (CONT'D) (to the Young Hood) Liquid gold, boyo. They finish setting the load in place, then Murdoch guns the motorboat and heads off. Another boat putters in to take his slot as the next cargo net is lowered. TRACK WITH MURDOCH'S MOTORBOAT as it heads inland through the darkness over the water. Slowly, a KINGDOM OF LIGHTS appears on the horizon, with grand hotels, massive neon signs, carnival rides and giant lighted piers lining its shore. As we draw closer, WE HEAR faint music which grows louder and LOUDER -- circus calliope mixed with raucous Dixieland jazz. -
The Hidden Earth: Visualization of Geologic Features and Their Subsurface Geometry
The Hidden Earth: Visualization of Geologic Features and their Subsurface Geometry Michael D. Piburn, Stephen J. Reynolds, Debra E. Leedy, Carla M. McAuliffe, James P. Birk, and Julia K. Johnson ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY Paper presented at the annual meeting of the National Association for Research in Science Teaching, New Orleans, LA, April 7-10, 2002. ABSTRACT Geology is among the most visual of the sciences, with spatial reasoning taking place at various scales and in various contexts. Among the spatial skills required in introductory college geology courses are spatial rotation (rotating objects in one’s mind), and visualization (transforming an object in one’s mind). To assess the role of spatial ability in geology, we designed an experiment using (1) web-based versions of spatial visualization tests, (2) a geospatial test, and (3) multimedia instructional modules built around innovative QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) movies. Two introductory geology modules were created – visualizing topography and interactive 3D geologic blocks. The topography module was created with Authorware and encouraged students to visualize two-dimensional maps as three-dimensional landscapes. The geologic blocks module was created in FrontPage and covered layers, folds, faults, intrusions, and unconformities. Both modules had accompanying worksheets and handouts to encourage active participation by describing or drawing various features, and both modules concluded with applications that extended concepts learned during the program. Computer-based versions of paper-based tests were created for this study. Delivering the tests by computer made it possible to remove the verbal cues inherent in the paper-based tests, present animated demonstrations as part of the instructions for the tests, and collect time-to-completion measures on individual items. -

You’re listening to Heat Rocks. Rhodes 00:00:09 Oliver Host Every episode we invite a guest to join us to talk about a heat rock, AKA an album that sizzles, but today we are going multimedia with a new series where we talk about music and movies. We’re calling it Music and Popcorn—shout-out to Morgan for coming up with that— and we’re kicking it off by taking a trip up north to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, and taking a creepy escalator down into Jordan Peele’s 2019 film, Us. 00:00:35 Music Music “I Got 5 On It (Tethered Mix)” off the album I Got 5 On It by Luniz. Slow, somewhat eerie instrumentals and vocalizations. 00:00:55 Oliver Host If someone in 2016 had asked for your opinion about Jordan Peele, you might be forgiven if you had first asked, “Wait, was he the tall guy or the short guy from Key and Peele?” [Morgan laughs.] Prior to his breakout debut film, Get Out, Peele was best known for his comedy skits, alongside partner Keegan Michael Key. But with Get Out, Peele showcased all manner of talents as a screenwriter and director by crafting one of the most lauded horror-slash-thriller films in recent years. In 2019, Peele was back with Us, a dark and at times darkly funny meditation on race, class, and equality, and the lethal shortcomings of voice-activated smart devices. -
