Oregon Cannabis Tax Act initiative shifts focus to 2012 In 2008, Oregon NORML and the Campaign for the Restoration and Regulation of began a campaign for a 2010 initiative that would re-legalize cannabis and hemp in Oregon, but it now seems headed for the 2012 ballot instead. Favorable coverage was seen in local newspapers, the Oregonian and Willamette Week, and even as far away as Japan and Norway. News clips, articles and radio can be found at ornorml.org and cannabis- act.org. According to Anna Diaz of Oregon NORML, polls in mid-October showed serious problems, with 30 percent initial support rising to 42 percent after hearing the measure clarified to voters, showing the need for long-term public education.
