The great leaders and the common soldiers alike all have been designed after much meticulous research into the uniforms and weapons. All the figures shown here are made of quality white metal and are available in kit form or fully painted in matt. These 54mm model Figures has been designed by Alan Caton, the size being the approximate height of figures without the headdress, depicting in accurate detail the British Army of the past and present. The great leaders and the common soldiers alike all have been designed after much meticulous research into the uniforms and weapons. All the figures shown here are made of quality white metal and are available in kit form or fully painted in matt. The kits can easily assembled with epoxy resin adhesive, after first removing any seams from the castings with a small file or craft knife. Before painting, the assembled model should be undercoated a matt finished white paint is ideal. It should be remembered that at the time of the formation of the Rifle Volunteers 1st Viscount Slim, KG, GCB, GCMG, GCVO, GBE, DSO, MC in 1859, there was no County of London, only the City. Surrey and Kent extended to the south bank of the Thames, Middlesex lay on the north bank and Essex bordered the City on the east. Consequently, units raised in what later became the County of London bore their old county names. Readers will learn that Londoners have much to be proud of in their long history of volunteer service to the nation in its hours of need. From the Boer War in South Africa and two World Wars to the various conflicts in more recent times in The Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan, London Volunteers and Territorials have stood together and fought alongside their Regular comrades. Some have won Britain’s highest award for valour - the Victoria Cross - and countless others have won gallantry awards and many have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving their country. Born on 23/12/1888 at 3 St Pancras Street, Ballymacarrett, Belfast, the youngest of seven children of upholsterer Andrew Stuart and his wife, Dumbarton-born Mary Stuart (nee O'Rorke). By 1911 he was living with his family at 6 New Bond Street, Belfast, and working as a house decorator.Soon after this Stuart moved to England. By the end of 1915 he was working as a house painter and decorator and living at 188 Blake Street, Barrow, Cumbria. On 12/12/1915 he was attested into the army and placed in the reserve. He was mobilised on 20 November the following year and posted to the North Irish Horse, joining the regiment at Antrim two days later. He was issued regimental number 2312. Stuart embarked for France on 24/04/1917, where he was posted to the 2nd North Irish Horse Regiment. He joined his unit in the field at Boeschepe on 12 June. Just weeks later orders came that the regiment would be dismounted and the men transferred to the infantry.

I attach a Regimental Forecast of Events at Annex A. REGIMENTAL REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY – 15 MAY 16 2. Regimental Remembrance Day will be held on Sunday 15th May 2016. HRH The Colonel is unable to attend this year. All those clear of duty from the 1st Battalion and Nijmegen Company will also attend. Please do make the effort to come. 3. The format of the afternoon will be similar to 2015. Members should aim to be in the Guards Chapel by 1445hrs. The service will start at 1500hrs. As usual, officers, unless accompanied by their wives or girlfriends (in which case they should sit with them), should stand on the left hand (northern) side of the Chapel. Sgts Mess members stand on the right side of the Chapel. 4. After the Service, members should form up on their Battalion Marker Boards on the Square as quickly as possible, ready to march to the Guards Memorial in the normal way. 5. There will be a refreshment tent, serving tea, set up at the eastern end of the Square. It will be open prior to the service and after the return from the Guards Memorial for those who wish to slake their thirst and catch up with friends. 6. All members attending should enter and leave by the West Gate in Birdcage Walk.
