Photo Credit: . GTA 5 to release on PS5 in second half of 2021 Standalone GTA Online for PS5 free for 3 months GTA 5 has sold over 130 million copies globally. GTA 5 isn't going anywhere. At the online PlayStation 5 event, Rockstar Games announced that an “expanded and enhanced” V will release in the second half of 2021 on the PS5 — eight years after its launch. Additionally, a new standalone GTA Online will be available for free on the PS5 exclusively. But there's a caveat: it will only be free for the first three months. GTA Online will also offer exclusive content for next- generation consoles, including the PS5. In its announcement, Rockstar claimed “a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades, and performance enhancements” for GTA 5 on the PS5. Rockstar never bothered to enhance GTA 5 for the PS4 Pro or X, likely since there was no financial incentive. But the launch of PS5 is that opportunity. Rockstar said it will take “full advantage” of the PS5's sophisticated, new hardware, delivering a version of GTA 5 that's “more beautiful and more responsive than ever.” Since its original release in 2013, GTA 5 has sold over 130 million copies worldwide. To further entice new purchases and increase engagement on the PS4, Rockstar also announced free $1,000,000 in-game GTA Online cash, every month until GTA 5's launch on the PS5 in 2021. All you've to do is play GTA Online once each month. You'll need an ongoing PS Plus subscription, naturally. GTA 5 is out in between July and December 2021 on the PS5. If you were hoping for a GTA 6 announcement at the PS5 event, it looks like a lot more of a wait now. I don't have the best internet speed ever but it's not this bad. A quick Google search shows this has been an issue since launch. Berordn. Member. I didn't realize this was an issue. Only took me about 20 minutes when I first booted it, which I thought was ludicrous at the time. The Lamonster. Member. AndyD. aka andydumi. BONDO. Member. USC-fan. Banned. tryagainlater. Member. first you download like a couple of gb then the download is gone from the "downloads" and you be able to open the game but you will be greeted with a "instaling x%" In this case the installing is actually the remaining 45. GB downloading in the background. bananafactory. Banned. Mine only took about 10-15 minutes. Edit: I installed from disc. Didn't notice you were downloading it - maybe check your connection speed? hydrophilic attack. Member. OnionPowder. Member. Yurikerr. This post isn't by me, it's by a guy with the same username as me. Yeah, after the first download is complete the game still has like 80% of data missing, So this "install process" that's happening inside the game is just a download of the remaining 40/45 gbs. You can close the application and play other game, the process will continue on background. superNESjoe. Member. TomShoe. Banned. Yup, you're downloading over 50 GB worth of content, as well as installing it all onto your HDD. It would have been much faster had you installed it from disc instead. Stereogatari. Banned. jimi_dini. Member. InsaneTiger. Member. You must be confusing downloading with installation. The install is pretty quick, the download is a combination of your internet speed, your actual internet speed, the backbone cabling all across the country, the servers being asked for the update and how many requests that server is getting. in other words, deal with it. Oh and if its a fresh install of the game, good luck, make a sandwich and chill. GifGafIsTheBestGaf. Member. but on a serious note op, for the love of god almighty DONT PLAY IT BEFORE IS COMPLETELY DOWNLOADED. i did the mistake of playing before 3GB of data were left to download. shit took like 3 hours to install! this game doesnt have PlayGo. benny_a. extra source of jiggaflops. If you get slow PSN download speeds it can be improved. Not guaranteed, but if you consistently experience bad speeds it's worth a try. as spwolf said earlier, the download speed on PSN is related to the Akamai CDN regional server that you get assigned. Unfortunately having everyone get the most optimal server assigned from a CDN is not a solved problem. If you consistently get shitty download speeds it's worth changing your DNS settings. Maybe try Google's Public DNS or Open DNS. Or run namebench http://code.google.com/p/namebench/ on your PC and improve your PC DNS performance in addition to maybe solving the PS4 issue you're having. (Quickest is not best, you will have to try because it's important that you get the right CDN regional server assigned.) OnionPowder. Member. Yurikerr. First you download some gbs using the console standard download manager, then the game seems ready to be played. When you open the game you see the loading screen with the "installing XX%" on the corner. Then you stay on this screen forever and the % change really slowly. When i bought the game i mistakenly deleted it the first time because i thought my download had corrupted.
