WELCOME MESSAGE ...... 3 OUR SUPPORTERS ...... 4 WHAT'S GOING ON ...... 5 DIGITAL PERFORMANCE COMPANIES ...... 10 LIVE FROM YOUR LAWN THEATRE COMPANIES...... 12 FESTIVAL DAILY SCHEDULE ...... 14 FESTIVAL STAFF & BOARD ...... 18 Welcome to the very first (and possibly only) This is Not That Festival!

When it became apparent that we would not be able to proceed with our plans for the 2020 Saskatoon Fringe Festival, we had to take a moment to mourn the loss of the Festival that we had been planning for months. It is hard to let something that you love go even when it becomes apparent that it is what needs to be done. But the thing is, you can't stop creators from creating, so we are back with something totally new: This is NOT That Festival!

Our hope is that This is NOT That Festival will provide opportunities for all of us to explore ways that theatre can continue to have a meaningful place in our community, while adhering to the gathering restrictions and safety protocols that are currently in place. With so much happening in the world and our community right now, this feels like the perfect time to be leaning into art. Theatre has always helped society have a greater understanding of large-scale events which is why we are so thankful that we have over 50 artists engaging the community through art and conversation as part of This is NOT That Festival.

We hope that this programming challenges, inspires, comforts, entertains and engages you.

Welcome to 25th Street!

Collaboration Station

From July 30th to August 8th, 25th Street Theatre will be presenting FREE mini day camps for kids ages 5 to 12 as part of the This is Not That Festival. Through a series of in-person, mini day camps focusing on the many different elements that go into creating a live theatre performance, theatre artists Angela Christie and Yulissa Campos will inspire kids to create their own Front Stoop Fringe shows.

If you can't make it in person, don't worry! Each day we will be releasing a “how to” video with a special guest artist who will share their skills with viewers.

Videos will be released and streamed daily at 11:30am and will be archived online.

For more information and to register, visit our website.

Digital Performances

We have theatre artists from Saskatoon, Montreal, Cincinnati, and Edmonton making digital theatre just for you! They will each be performing twice throughout our festival for a total of 10 live digital theatre performances. This is bite sized theatre with performances limited to 40 minutes each and they are completely FREE (though there is a Tip the Performer option so be sure to show those starving artists some love if you can).

One digital performance will go live every night at 7:30pm from July 30th to August 8th. Engage: Big Conversations About the Future of Theatre

A lot is happening in the world right now, and as continue to sit empty, we have invited various theatre artists and experts to join us as panel members to have the big conversations about what is happening in the world and how it will affect the future of theatre.

Hosted by Eric Anderson, CBC Freelance Reporter and YXE Underground Host, streaming online at 9:00pm, featuring the following panels:

August 1st: Systemic Racism in Theatre August 2nd: Gender Identity in Theatre August 3rd: Indigenizing Theatre August 6th: Can Theatre Be Green? August 7th: The Community of Theatre

Fringe Feud

Hosted by local theatre artist Danny Knight, Fringe Feud follows the format of Family Feud where two teams will face off to guess the most popular answers received from our survey respondents. There’s one hitch though – all of the questions are Fringe related.

July 30th @ 9:00pm: Sketchy Bandits vs. Lady Bits August 5th @ 9:00pm: Young Company (Old School) vs. Young Company (New School) Live From Your Lawn

There is nothing quite like a live and in person performance is there? Those experiences stick with you in a way that only live theatre can, which is why we are SO excited about our Live from Your Lawn series.

We will be drawing 12 names from a hat and if we pull your name, we will bring a show right to YOUR lawn!

Entry is by donation.* Those who donate by July 22nd at noon will be entered to win.

*Donations of any amount are deeply appreciated, but should you not be able to make a donation at this time, but would like to host a performance you can still enter to host a performance.

"The Love Letter Post Card"- Art Installation

A celebration of The Saskatoon Fringe and the people who make it happen. Created by Logan Martin-Arcand and sponsored by the Broadway Business Improvement District. Check it out everyday of the festival on Broadway at the stone stage. Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre: Write Like You Mean It

Write Like You Mean It is an initiative to give playwrights the support needed to commit fully to a new script. The program commissions artists at various stages of their artistic development and provides resources that are often difficult to access when starting new projects, namely, time and money. Once the initial draft is complete, playwrights then have access to the dramaturgical and workshop resources that SPC can provide. This year two scripts have completed their projects in full and the SPC will be posting a call for new submissions soon! The SPC Play Reading will be streamed August 4th at 9:00pm.

“The Unforgettables” written by Erin Brophy

A joyful and musicallampoon of Western tropes ensues!
