Die Bigband von Duke Ellington hatte ihren ganz besonderen, unverwechsel- baren Sound. Das lag zum einen an der genialen Fähigkeit Ellingtons, die besonderen Stärken seiner Solisten auszuspielen. Zum anderen aber auch an den Persönlichkeiten, die im Jazz Orchestra des Duke versammelt waren.
