It contains 76 graves with 48 memorials. It is bounded on the northern side by the boundary wall. The gap between rows is variable between 1’ and 2’. There are some child graves at the eastern end which don’t conform to the general layout. From the burial register: Emily Judell, aged 37, of Fairstowe Rd, Lyncombe Hill, was buried on 9 Sep 1879. (The ‘Lyncombe’ should probably be ‘Widcombe’.) In the 1881 census at 2 Macaulay Buildings, Bath: Henrietta Jane Judell, aged 42, unmarried, teacher & matron, born at Holstein Altona, Germany, a servant, and eleven orphans. In the 1901 census at 2 Macaulay Buildings, Bath: Henrietta Jane Judell, aged 62, living on own means, born at Altona Elbe (German Subject), a matron, an assistant matron and twelve inmates. Effects £7010 14s. 6d. Altona is near Hamburg but in the province of Schleswig-Holstein. It is bordered on the southern side by the river Elbe. The province was part of Denmark but in 1864 it was ceded to Prussian and Austrian administration and in 1867 became part of Prussia. The surname Judell connected with Altona appears in The Advertiser (of Adelaide, SA) of 23 Apr1902 in connection with the death of Cesar Judell of Fremantle, WA, son of W Judell of Altona, Holstein and in graves at Adelaide Jewish cemetery, Max Judell, aged 17, of Hamburg having gone from Hamburg to Adelaide in 1855.
