January 2017 To: Travel Companies Kyushu Railway Company January 2017 To: Travel companies Kyushu Railway Company Regarding change to handling of reserved seating ticket restrictions for “JR-KYUSHU RAIL PASS” We thank you for your continuing support for the sales of the “JR-KYUSHU RAIL PASS.” The charges for seat reservations on limited express and other trains will be revised from the reservations for travel from March 4, 2017 onwards. In connection with this, there will also be some changes to the additional charges applied for the use of reserved seating with a JR-KYUSHU RAIL PASS over the limit for the number of reservations that can be obtained. Please update this information in your advertising materials and elsewhere. Regards Details 1. Handling of restrictions on the number of times reservations can be obtained (Current) (1) Restriction on reservations 3-day pass: Up to 10 times 5-day pass: Up to 16 times (2) Handling of reservations over the restrictions It is possible to reserve seats by paying the additional charges shown below. - Kyushu Shinkansen: 520 yen (Varies ±200 yen depending on time of year) - Conventional line limited express trains, Isaburo/Shinpei: 510 yen (Varies -200 yen depending on time of year) - Aso Boy! “Panorama Section” and “White Kuro Seat”: 720 yen (Same charge throughout year) - SL Hitoyoshi: 820 yen (Same charge throughout year) (3) Refund charges 330 yen (For both adults and children) * If the train operation is cancelled, a full refund will be given without charge. * If a passenger misses the train for which a seat reservation was made (hereinafter called the “designated train”), the reservation becomes invalid. No refund will be given. (4) Change of train - Before the designated train departs, it is possible to change a reservation once at the JR ticket counter (Midori-no-madoguchi) at a station. - The additional charge for the train before the change will be compared with the additional charge required for the train after the change. If the amount already paid is insufficient, the extra must be paid. If the amount already paid is more than required, the excess amount will be refunded. (5) Handling of other cases - If a reservation ticket is lost, the excess amount required to board the train must be paid again. In this case, it is not possible to use the seat originally reserved. 2. Change to additional charge for the use of reserved seating in excess of the restrictions on the number of reservations obtained For reservations for travel from March 4, 2017 onwards, the additional charges for the use of reserved seating in excess of the restrictions on the number of reservations that can be obtained will be changed as follows. * Child prices are for children aged from 6 to 11 years. "Temporary Visitor" entry status, according to Japanese Immigration Law, allows a stay in Japan of 15 days or 90 days for "sight-seeing, etc." If you apply for a "stay for sight-seeing" when you enter Japan, entry personnel will stamp your passport as "Temporary Visitor," as shown below. Only persons who have a passport bearing this stamp can use a JAPAN RAIL PASS. Examples of the "Temporary Visitor" entry status stamp Caution: Even if you visit Japan with an Exchange Order, to be turned in for a JAPAN RAIL PASS, the exchange cannot be made unless you have "Temporary Visitor" status; if you enter Japan under any other official status, such as "Trainee," "Entertainer," or "Reentry Permit," you cannot change the Exchange Order for a JAPAN RAIL PASS.
