HOW TO CREATE AN OR TALISMAN

RACHEL WILKINSON hi friend.

In 2018, my life was a dumpster fire. I was trapped in the worst parts of a midlife crisis feeling isolated and defeated. Figuring things couldn’t get any worse, I turned to my lifelong interest in metaphysics, , and the . Tools I used to gain clarity and chart a new direction for my future.

Now I teach everyday people how to use witchcraft and the occult for self- empowerment and personal transformation.

My life was a dumpster fire, so I turned to witchcraft.

I created Lifemancy to show how the tools of metaphysics and spirituality can boost creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and intuitive skills. By revealing the connections magical practices have to science and history, we can discover how it works and why life is not as ordinary as we might think.

www.lifemancy.com Ancient Egyptian magic, called Heka, touched every aspect of an Egyptian’s daily life. They saw Heka as a divine or cosmic force. It was a form of energy that existed in everything, even within themselves.

Technically, Heka is a form of sympathetic magic. Sympathetic magic is a type of imitative magic based on correspondences. Sometimes referred to as “Magickal Correspondence”, it’s the idea that someone can influence something based on its relationship or resemblance to another thing. And ancient Egyptians often turned to animals to acquire special powers and abilities.

A modern example would be a lucky ’s foot. A rabbit’s foot brings good because it makes you quick on your feet and fertile. Another example is a bear claw for added strength or wearing a necklace with a lion's tooth to imbue yourself with courage and leadership.

Amulets and talismans were a staple in ancient Egyptian life and death as a way to use Heka.

Amulets and talismans are power objects and two terms that are used interchangeably all the time, but they don’t actually mean the same thing. An amulet offers protection against evil, bad luck, disease, death, and other misfortunes. They banish. They keep bad things away from you. Talismans, on the other hand, give you powers and benefits or bring good luck.

Ankhs, heart scarabs, knots of , papyrus stems, pillars, these are just a fraction of what had meaning for Egyptians because the magic of each made the power of amulets and talismans real.
