Hamish Anthony was an allrounder who bowled lively medium pace, and two solid seasons for the Leewards led to his inclusion on the 1991 tour of England – he had already played the first of his two summers with Glamorgan – and while he never threatened to break into the Test side, he nevertheless impressed. He continued to bowl well for the Leewards, playing league cricket in England as well, and in 1995 made three moderate one-day appearances for West Indies at Sharjah. An early start in the TCL in April against Stinchcombe who were bowled out for 99 with Hamish Anthony taking 6-21,R.Beaumont 2-25 A.Cook 2-23 Hamish then proved his all round ability by scoring 86* to steer Abergavenny to a 6 wicket win in just 22 overs.     CRICKET MEMORABILIA SOCIETY AUCTION SATURDAY 20th OCTOBER 2018 LANCASHIRE COUNTY CRICKET GROUND VIEWING from 10am AUCTION 1.30pm Auctioneer: Tim Davidson 1 Conditions of Sale The CMS welcomes items of cricket memorabilia for its auctions. There will normally be just two auctions in the year - March and October. The CMS reserves the right to refuse items which are damaged etc., or we have doubts about authenticity. Reserves can be placed on lots but must be agreed with the CMS. They should reflect realistic values/expectations and not be the “highest price” expected. The CMS will take 7% of the price realised, the vendor 93% which will normally be paid 6 weeks after the auction. The CMS will undertake to advertise the memorabilia to all its members (including overseas) and only CMS members are eligible to bid for items. Members are welcome to send postal bids which should be in writing/e-mail before the auction. Bids will normally start at 60% of the bid unless there is a higher reserve price or other postal bids. Items will be sent to successful postal bidders the week after the auction and will usually be sent by recorded delivery. Postage will be paid by the successful postal bidder. The CMS will be responsible for the items sent for auction while they are in the possession of the CMS. The CMS welcomes items of particular and unusual interest for the auctions. The very first game was a friendly, Abergavenny making 222-4 with runs from M.Winstanley (50) P.Watkins (39)G.Thomas (42) and M.Bloor (72) Cardiff Nomads were in trouble a 51-4 with P.Sussex taking 2-17 but alas rain stopped play Frocester then beat Abergavenny by 5 wickets A 2 wkt victory followed against Panteg. Panteg 126 all out with Alan Cook takin 6-36 and P.Sussex 3-41 Abergavenny 127-8 M.Winstanley (35) Those other Gwent rivals Usk were beaten next. Usk 167 all out A..Cook 6-69 A.Charrington 2-40 P.Havard 2-27 Abergavenny 168-4 M.Bloor (79*)G.Thomas (49) Next the local village rivals were soundly beaten. Llanarth 95 all out S.Moorcroft 3-27 P.Havard 2-17 P.Jones 2-10 Abergavenny 98-2 P.Watkins (57*) G.Thomas(19*) The victory run continued against Ebbw Vale.
