BOARD NEWS COFFEE CULTURE 7

Hi Everyone, Welcome back to term three and unfortunately the run down to the end of a rather wet messy season. Well done to the teams who competed in the Nelson Suburbs Tournament over the holidays with some hard, well fought matches in the boys grades and the Intermediate Grade Girls team winning their grade. Below is an update from a board news perspective. This month’s meeting revolved around administrative issues including our end of season club golf tournament (start thinking about your team for this fun day out!), North Canterbury Sports Awards nomina- tions, Sunday Fun-Day and Junior Prize Giving, which we are looking to combine to make it a more fun family event, Senior prize giving venue and date (TBA as we are waiting for some quotes) and finally 2015 Annual Plan and 2015-2018 Strategic planning Just to expand on that last point of planning. We have collected returns from 150 club members who were kind enough to pro- vide feedback via our on line survey, plus the board has received data from a survey a number of coaches and players have com- pleted. This will form the basis of this planning. So what is the process from here? We will be meeting the week after next to pull out the common threads within the information received and publish a document for the moment I would like to call the “Waimak Way” Within this document will be a draft strategic plan for 2015-2018 which really is just a list of club goals and targets. Alongside that we will have a 2015 annual plan which are the actions required to achieve those goals and targets in the strategic plan. It will have a player pathway and opportunity section so players and parents can choose what is the best way for them to achieve their football dreams through Waimak Football, from a social participation kick around to a national or international career. A clear organisa- tional chart clarifying who does what and what positions we have available to help out the club as a volunteer. A property plan dealing with gear, playing pitches and buildings. Personal plan which will deal with a number of areas including coach and official’s appointment and appraisal. Also the board need to understand how we can help Woman’s and Masters Football to achieve their goals. So a bit of work to do, but I believe we will the better for it to be organised before the 2015 season so we can concentrate on our core business of facilitating playing the beautiful game. If you have an article, team profile or anything you think of interest please e mail to me for the next issue, as we do not have a full time reporter!!- [email protected] If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me directly Regards Ian PAGE 2 WAIMAK WHISPER

SENIOR CLUB

The division 1 men's teams league has now finished. Sadly after a great start to the season the team could not hold on to there form and slipped down the table to finish 4th. With the end of season cup competition to play for now the team will be looking to regain some form and finish on a high.

The PDL side currently sits equal 3rd and results going there way this weekend they may finish second. A great result after the slow start to the season and the age of the team. Long term this side will be valuable to the club as stepping stone to the div 1 side and creating depth in the sen- ior club. Great effort team

The 15 B girls team also sits a top the league. Bloody Awesome stuff. I have watched a few of the games and the football is off a great standard. Get down and have a look yourself. This sort of depth creates great clubs. The 11 girls have still only lost the 1 game this season and every week under the guidance (yelling) from the coach they get better. They are looking to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season. As told in last newsletter the 10th a girls have move into the boys competitions and have had 2 wins so far and remain unbeaten in competition games this season. 13 Girls A Division One Team

Two thirds of the way through the 2014 season and the 13 Grade Girls A team remains unbeaten in Division One.

In a grade which has been more competitive than the past two or three seasons, the girls have had to work hard each week to remain at the top.

Before the school holiday break a thrilling nil all draw against the second place FC Twenty 11 team produced, what many on the sideline deemed, the best exhibition of youth football they had seen.

The FCtwenty11 side has scored more goals in the competition than the Waimak side, yet in three separate games during the 2104 season, they could not hit the back of the net against this talented Blair Currie wee Waimak line up; Waimak coming away with two wins and a draw Position: Goal Keeper Favourite Team: Chelsea Across the park the team is strong, and each week they take the field and play for each other. 2 YOUNG LADIES IN AUCKLAND

NZ Football Ferns v Brazil Macey Fraser and Ella Fong got a taste of top level football when they travelled to Auckland on 16th June to watch the Football Ferns (NZ senior Women’s team) play Brazil at . Macey said “I’m excited to watch the Brazilians play as they are ranked 6 in the world, but disappointed that Mata isn’t coming.” Mata is arguably one of the best female footballers and is currently working as a FIFA ambassador at the Men’s World Cup. Ella said she too was “looking forward to watching the Ferns match it with the flare of the Brazilians.” The game was played in pretty wet conditions and the girls felt the Ferns dominated the game and were unlucky not to score more goals. The match finished a 1-1 draw. It was nail biting to the end and an excellent display of top level women’s football. After the game Macey said “it was very physical.” Ella said “it was a good game to watch because they played really good football despite the wet conditions.” PAGE 5 IFANZ

The importance of a Player Profile

Player Profiles is a tool used by IFANZ which allows any IFANZ player the ability to create a profile of them self, this is completely FREE and also available to any player outside of IFANZ and also any sport. We encourage any player in IFANZ and the Waimak United FC to create a profile for them self, whether you are a player, coach.

You can find the player profiles website at www.playerprofiles.co.nz

Creating a profile is a starting point to keeping a history of your achievements over time, you can add text, photos, add video footage. You can even send a friend request to other profiles and communicate with them via player profiles.

Whether you want to become a professional football player or go to an overseas college or simply want to apply for your first job, player profiles can be used as an online CV.

Player profiles also have sporting scouts that create there own profiles, they are actively looking for talent so if you have your own profile then you could be scouted.

IFANZ have already had one player scouted via player profiles who is now heading overseas, more information about this will follow in the next few months.

Player profiles are always looking for pathways for players, if you have any questions in regards to pathways and what options there are then contact player profiles at [email protected] or via the contact us form on the website, the earlier you can do this the better so you can start to plan towards your goals.
