An Orientation Program on Placement Training
An orientation program on placement training by Cognizant was organised on 2nd Feb 2021 in Govt. RC college of Commerce and Management. The program coordinator Miss Lakshmi from Cognizant and the nodal placement coordinator addressed the UG and PG students in 2 separate batches. They briefed the students about the benefits of attending the online training which is linked to placements. Game of Life; Play it Right-Personality Development Programme
A Personality Development Programme titled – Game of Life; Play it Right was conducted for the NCC Cadets on 06th February 2021 in Kuvempu Auditorium. Ms. Ramya Sreedhar, Entrepreneur and Certified Corporate Trainer- addressed the NCC Cadets. The programme was arranged by the Ex- NCC Cadets. The programme benefited the cadets in shaping their career and personality.

Weekly Assembly by Final Year B.Com. - B Section Students
On 4th February 2021, The Second weekly assembly for the academic year 2020-21 was conducted by Final year B. Com B students under the mentorship of Lt. Dr. Prakash M. On Account of World Cancer Day, Students presented the causes and treatment for Cancer. Eco Club students explained the importance of Water Resources, Causes for Water Pollution and prevention of water pollution. Principal Prof. Laxman A. Kulagod who presided over the function addressed the students on Campus Discipline. The weekly assembly coordinator Dr. D.K. Nataraja, HOD of Commerce Prof. Sudha Madhwaraj, M.Com. F & A Coordinator Prof. C. Sachitha Bopaiah distributed the prizes for Top two Performers in University Examination from each section of Final Year B. Online Workshop on Disaster Management in Aviation
A workshop on Disaster management in Aviation was organised by BBA Aviation department for first and second year students on 8th February 2021. Capitan T Manoj (Retd) Aerospace consultant, gave an insight into disaster management concepts and different types of disasters aviation industry faces and its impact and management tools techniques used to overcome it. Valedictory function of Certificate Course on personality development
Department of BBA-AVIATION conducted a certificate course on 'Personality Development' from 4th to 22nd January 2021, a total of 30 hours on varied topics. Both 1st semester and 3rd semester students participated and successfully completed the certificate course. On 9th February 2021, certificates distribution ceremony was conducted jointly by BBA, BBA-AVIATION and B.Com-Tourism departments. Prof. Neelavathi M.A., Joint Director, Bengaluru Region was the chief guest who enlightened the students on the importance of Certificate courses. Prof. Laxman A. kulagod, principal presided over the function. Prof. C Sachitha Bopaiah, Dr. K. Sreelakshmi, Dr. K.P. Anitha and Dr. Waseeha Firdose organised the event. Aptha Samalochana Samithi
Aptha Samalochana Samithi organized a “Mental Health Care Training and Awareness Programme for students” in collaboration with “District Mental Health Programme” BBMP on 08-02-2021 at Kuvempu Auditorium. The chief guests were Dr. Vikram, Psychiatrist District Mental Health Programme, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Bengaluru, Mr. Raghav Clinical psychologist, and Mr. Devaraj, Life skill Trainer and Social worker. Prof. Laxman A Kulagod, Principal of R C College presided over the function. They conducted some activities about the Life Skills, more than 200 students were participated and benefited.

Certificate Course in Yoga by Department of Physical Education
The Department of Physical Education in association with Adhyatma Yoga Academy started a Yoga Wellness Certificate Course (2 Credit Course) from 22nd February 2021, for the students and faculty members of the college. The course contents include: Definition & Philosophy of Yoga, Application of Yoga in Modern day life, yoga for concentration, memory and skill enhancement, stress management, women’s wellness, yoga, physical fitness and sports, yogic warm up exercises, breathing exercises, surya namaskara and yogasana, pranayama and Dhyana (meditation).

05/02/2021 to 27/02/2021 – Certificate Course in Life Skills- Titled Skills for a better life journey
The Department of Commerce and the Department of Hindi jointly organized a 30 hours Certificate course for B Com students. The course was held for 15 days with each session of two hours. The course took off on 5th February 2021, with the first technical session on ‘Anger Management’ preceded by a brief formal inaugural session. It was followed by the rest of the sessions wrapping up on 27/02/2021

Prof. Shivakumar B. won Silver medal in “Discuss throw” competition held on 11th February 2021 at Bangalore Urban District Government Employees Sports Meet and Cultural Competition at Sri Kanteerava Stadium.

Weekly Assembly by Final Year B.Com C Section Students
The weekly assembly of Government Ramnarayan Chellaram College was held on 11/02/2021 Thursday which was conducted by 3rd year BCOM ‘C’ section students on the topic “POWER OF YOUTH” (Yuva Shakthi). The weekly assembly was compered by Jalaja, Jayshree, Lavanya the students of 3rdyear BCOM ‘C’ section. The assembly started with the prayer song (prarthana) by Kushal kumar, followed by Nadageetha sung by all 3rd year Bcom ‘C’ section students. Karuna spoke on the topic “YOUTH ARE THE GIFTS OF OUR SOCIETY”. Jyothi and komala spoke on “youth power”. As 11/02/2021 is celebrated as the birthday of Purandaradasa (PURANDARADASA JAYATHI), Hemanth kumar spoke on the contribution and thoughts of Purandaradasa, a haridasa philosopher and saint, followed by the address by our Principal Prof.Lakshman Kulgod sir, Sir spoke on the importance of achievements and discipline to be followed by students. The important newspaper headlines were read by Irfan and Lokeshwari. A general knowledge quiz was conducted for all students by Irshad and Kavya. The winners were honored with prizes. The eco club volunteers spoke on Eco-awareness. The beautiful rangoli at the entrance of the college and on stage was done by Kushal and likitha. The assembly concluded with the vote of thanks given by Kavya and followed by national anthem.

CRICKET TOURNAMENT FOR THE GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES
For the first time in the history of Department of Collegiate Education, the employees took part in Cricket Tournament for Government Employees of Bengaluru District. The tournament was organised by the Karnataka State Government Employees Association in association with Youth Empowerment and Sports Department. Our College staff members Dr. Prakash M., Prof. Y. Govindappa, Prof. Shivakumar B., and Prof. G.B. Venkatesh were part of the Cricket team. The league match was played against Animal Husbandry department. DCE Team scored 108/3 in 8 overs. The AHD scored only 56/3 in 8 overs. DCE Team won by 52 runs. The Quarter final match was played against the last year Champions- DTE (Department of Technical Education). DTE scored 77/4 in 8 overs. DCE scored 81/1 in 7.3 overs. DCE team won the match and reached the semi-final. In the semi-final, after losing the toss, DCE team scored 74/2 in 8 overs. The opponent team was Police department who managed to score 75/7 in 8 overs. Captain of DCE Dr. Riyaz pasha was the leading run scorer with a score of 65 not out in league match, 53 not out in quarter final and 27 in semi-final. Dr. Prakash M. was the highest wicket taker for DCE with 2-0-12-1 in league match, 2-0-22-1 and 2-0-9-2 in semi-final. The performance of DCE team was largely applauded.

Graduation Day for PG Students of 2018-2020 batch was organised on 13-02-2021 in Kuvempu Auditorium. Sri M.P. Krishnan, Managing Partner, Gajshri Srinagar Co-Manufacturer of Value Added Products for Saint Gobain India Ltd., was the Chief Guest. Guest of Honour was Sri P.N Karthik, Chairman, YUGA- Youth United for Good Action (NGO). The Function was presided over by Prof. Laxman A. Kulagod, Principal. The M.Com Coordinator Dr. Prahlad Chowdri G., M.Com F&A Coordinator- Prof. Sachitha Bopaiah C., M.B.A. Coordinator- Dr. Ajaz Ahmed Khan and PG Cultural Coordinator Dr. Waseeha Firdose were present in the function. ‘ICAI Career Counselling Programme’
Upon a request from Department of Commerce – B Com and Placement Cell, the SIRC, ICAI, Bangalore branch, obliged to conduct career counselling for B Com students, aspiring to pursue Chartered Accountancy course. Mr. C A Tarun M Guntanur, CA, CS, Partner, Suraj & Tarun Associates, Bangalore, a young professional, addressed the students and educated them about CA course – levels of exam, subjects under each level, kind of preparation required, internship requirement and future prospects. It was a participative session and the resource person had to answer quite a few students’ queries. It was a fruitful session for the students.

09/02/2021 to 11/02/2021: 3-day Workshop on Banking, titled ‘Know Your Banking Operations’
The 3-day workshop was organized for I year B Com students, to help them understand banking beyond their routine operations. Mr. Subroth Kumar Mohapadyaya, Deputy General Manager, Bank of Baroda, Race course Road, Bangalore, carved out time from his busy schedule, to educate our students on latest developments in Banking. Day 1 – About Bank Accounts – He spoke about the different bank accounts and their specific benefits to customers. His focus was on ‘Zero Balance Account’ and the special features embedded in the account with the sole intention of helping the students’ community. Students’ queries were patiently answered by the DGM. Many a students expressed their interest in opening such a account.
Day 2 – Banking Operations – Procedures involved in opening of bank accounts – both deposit and loan accounts and their management was discussed
Day 3 – Recent trend in Banking and simplified baking business owing to the use of information technology were focused on during the 2 hour session. Students did benefit from the sessions.

One Day Workshop on Readiness of Colleges due for NAAC Re-Accreditation
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Govt. R.C. College of Commerce and Management, State Quality Assurance Cell and Regional Joint Director’s Office, Department of Collegiate Education, Bengaluru- A One Day Workshop on Readiness of Colleges due for NAAC Re-Accreditation was organised on 19th February 2021 in Kuvempu Auditorium. Prof. Malleshwarappa, Director, Department of Collegiate Education inaugurated the Workshop. Prof. Ashwath G.R., Joint Director-Academic, Department of Collegiate Education was the Chief Guest. The workshop was presided by Prof. Laxman A. Kulagod, Principal of the College. Dr. K. Vikram, Nodal Officer, SQAC, DCE, and Dr. Ramesh Y., Special Officer, RJD Office, DCE were present in the workshop. The participant colleges include: GFGC, Devanahalli, BES College, Bengaluru, GFGC, Anekal, GFGC, Hebbur, Sri Kuvempu First Grade College, Channapatna, GFGC, Ramnagar, GFGC, Shidlaghatt and Govt. R.C. College Bengaluru. All the colleges made power point presentation about the readiness for NAAC Reaccreditation. The Profile of the college was presented by the Principals. Executive Summary was presented by the IQAC Cooridnators. Criterion Wise Coordinators presentations were made by the Criterion Coordinators. The Regional Joint Director Prof. Neelavathi M.A., was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function of the workshop. Prof. Neelavthi M.A., in her valedictory address – insisted that the Higher Education Institutions must cooperate with the Department of Collegiate Education who are striving hard to fulfil the dreams of our Higher Education Minister Sri C.N. Ashwath Narayan to see our First Grade Colleges in top list of the colleges in India. She also insisted that the Faculty should cooperate with the Principals and IQAC, SQAC to get their institutions graded with NAAC with highest scores.

A Special Lecture Programme on “Awareness of Equal Opportunities was organised by the Equal Opportunity Cell of the College on 24th February 2021 in kuvempu auditorium. Ms. Poorna R., Advocate, Alternate Law Forum was the Resource Person. She created an awareness about the opportunities available for all in the modern society. Principal Prof. Laxman A. Kulagod presided over the function. Prof. Lakshmi K. Coordinator of Equal Opportunity Cell was also present in the function. The Programme was attended by all Teaching, Non-Teaching Staff and Students.

Weekly Assembly by Final Year B.Com. - D Section Students
On 24th February 2021, The Fourth weekly assembly for the academic year 2020-21 was conducted by Final year B. Com D students under the mentorship of Prof. Rukmini K. On Account of Road Safety Week, High Ground Police Personnel addressed the students and created awareness about Road Safety and importance of Traffic Rules. Eco club students explained the importance of Water Resources, Causes for Water Pollution and prevention of water pollution. Principal Prof. Laxman A. Kulagod who presided over the function addressed the students on Campus Discipline. The weekly assembly coordinator Dr. D.K. Nataraja, HOD of Commerce Prof. Sudha Madhwaraj, M.Com. F & A Coordinator Prof. C. Sachitha Bopaiah distributed the prizes Quiz Competition. All Teaching Staff, Non-Teaching Staff and Students attended the assembly.

Prathibhanveshane- 2021 Inaugural function
The Prathibhanveshane-2021 was inaugurated on 25th February 2021 in the college premises. Sri Rizwan Arshad , MLA, Shivaji Nagar Constituency and CDC- President of RC College inaugurated the function. He spoke about the importance of Cocurricular activities in shaping the personality of the students and bringing out the hidden talent of the students. Dr. Prasad K., Additional Director, Department of Collegiate Education was the Chief Guest. He spoke about the schemes of DCE for students and also the Tabs that are going to be distributed to the first year students in the academic year. Sri K.Y. Venkatesh, Padmashree Awardee was the Guest of Honour. He spoke about the importance of sports and physical activities. Cine Artists- Sri Chandan Gowda (serial Lakshmi Baramma fame) , Ms. Anitha Bhat ( Psycho film fame) , Sri Pramod Bopanna ( hero of Balepet) and Sri Ekalavya (hero of Kaliveera) were on stage. They released the promos and trailers of their upcoming movies Kushka, Balepet and Kaliveera.

UNNATI CLASS VALEDICTORY FUNCTION
Unnati Certificate Course Valedictory function was held on 26-02-2021 in the College. The Thirty days course is intended to improve the communication skills and interview skills among the students. Nearly 24 students from final year under graduate courses benefited from this course. The Classes were taken by Ms. Jyothi and Ms. Bharathi. Prof. Sudha Madhwaraj, B. Prof. Sheela Baskar, Associate Professor of English- was born and brought up in Bangalore. She completed her Master’s Degree in English (Indian Literature). She joined the PES College in 1989 and she was redeployed to Govt. R.C. College in the year 2013. She is always remembered for her dedication in teaching, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. She was also part of various social service activities. Prof. Sheela Baskar was admired by the students as well as the faculty members for her commitment towards the institution.

Prof. Vathsala H.N., Associate Professor of English, was born and brought up in Bangalore. She pursued her Masters degree in English from Bangalore University. She joined Vijaya College in the year 1992 and was redeployed to Govt. R.C. College in the year 2019. She is known for her confident and fearless talk and also for her contribution towards women empowerment. She was the resource person for many webinars conducted in the college during the covid pandemic.

Sri Balaji S.N. Gazetted Manager, was born and brought up in Bangalore. He joined the Department of Collegiate Education as a Second Division Assistant in 1981. He has served in Head Office,
Maharani’s Arts College, Govt. Law College, Kolar, GFGC, Hosakote, Malur, Ramanagara, Frazer town. He got promoted as Gazetted Manager in the year 2013. He is known for his vast experience in administrative work. He is also Tabla (musical instrument) player.

NCC B and C Certificate Examination for Bangalore Group ‘A’
The National Cadet Corps B Certificate theory examination was conducted on 21st February 2021 in college premises for Bangalore A Group. 1,400 cadets from various battalions’ (1 KAR, 1 KAR Girls, 1 Kar Navy, 2 Kar, 3 Kar) attended the examination. The NCC C Certficate Practical Examination was held on 27th February 2021 in college ground. 800 cadets from Bangalore A Group attended the examination. On 28th February 2021, the C Certificate theory examination was conducted in the campus. The NCC unit/cadets thank the Principal Prof. Laxman Kulagod for giving the opportunity to conduct the examination in the college premises. The NCC unit/cadets also thank the Teaching and Non-Teaching staff for their direct and indirect support in conducting the examination.

Department of B. Com tourism
Recognizing the fact that life skills play a crucial role in making our students employable and in being successful in their life, the Dept of B Com Tourism organized Certificate Course on Life Skills for first and second year B Com tourism students from 03/01/2021 to 21/01/2021. Objective of this course is to familiarize the students with basic aspects of life skills. Certificate course on life skills covers the topics such as interpersonal skills, leadership potential, communication and presentation skills, time management, Job opportunities and stress management etc. it is believed that for a professional to succeed in today’s competitive environment, one should demonstrate mastery in all the relevant areas mentioned in the course structure of life skills. Around 50 students are enrolled for this course. Certificates were distributed to the students on the valedictory day held on 09/02/2021. Prof. Neelavathi. M.A joint director, Bangalore region, DCE , Chief guest addressed the students on importance certificate course and distributed certificates to the students. Prof. Laxman A Kulagod, Principal, Govt R C College presided over the function. Teaching staff and students attended the function.
