6 SIMPSON, J.M. RECORDS O THE YEAR THE MICK 54 As the year was a write-off for writing, which was distinctly off, it’s nice to end the year with two quick issues of the magazine, covering Xmas and now all the reviews I have done. There have been some truly great records by new and old artists alike, and I hereby commend them to the House. Next year we should be back to normal, with regular issues, which is a relief for me as I have missed it. I doubt you have but will earn back your enthusiasm. A Happy New Yearto you all. I go now. • Rozz Williams Et Le Death Rock

HEATHEN HARVEST SAMHAINWORK I The event is here. The time is now. Ever since our inception, Heathen Harvest has concentrated fully and wholeheartedly on delivering thoughtful views and exposure to the post-industrial underground. But part of our responsibility also rests in passing the very best music to our readership. Now, for the first time ever, we are proud to deliver an album of entirely original creations, showcasing some of the finest artists that we work with. Samhain is the end of the land cycle of birth and growth, the culmination of light and life. A time of open reflection as we look back to our past and give honour to our lineage, but also a period for dreaming of our futures and what we want to truly make of ourselves. It is a time of strongest, palpable spiritual concentration. We hope you enjoy taking the time to experience the eighty minutes of this record: a companion for this turn of the Wheel, and a carefully plotted aural expedition to take you through and beyond the open gates of the Dark Half. • Shadow Project - and Then There Was Death (DVD)
Shadow Project - And Then There Was Death (DVD) Shadow Project And Then There Was Death (DVD) Music Video Distributors www.musicvideodistributors.com MVD brings us yet another tremendously interesting DVD for fans of goth and death rock. For those who don’t already know, Rozz Williams and Eva O. were the “first family” of goth, setting the stage for the goth industry that exists today with bands like Christian Death, Shadow Project, Super Heroines, as Eva O.’s solo work. The day Rozz Williams took his life is the day goth lost its heart in my book. This DVD is a wonderful treat for fans of goth and Rozz and Eva O. If you are unfamiliar with the music or its history, I recommend picking up some music first- their story (which can be pieced together with a little work) is tremendously intriguing. Shadow Project was a bit more raw and not quite as over the top as Christian Death would be but is a familiar predecessor in many ways. “And Then There was Death” appears to be mainly compiled from public access show footage and probably some home video. It’s very low budget looking but that was probably to be expected. It includes songs recorded live all over the place as well as some “lost” interview footage, etc. Fans will really dig this because it gives a lot of insight and offers a chance to see the band live, because most of us never had the opportunity. This was a magic moment in history that few realized was so important.
