Eastern Ontario Development Program

A multi-million dollar initiative from the Government of Canada that promotes rural, socioeconomic development in Eastern Ontario with the intent to lead a more competitive and diversified regional economy.

EODP funding will serve as a lever for additional investment by utilizing the following program components.

• The Business Development (BD) component will promote growth of new and existing businesses in rural eastern Ontario communities.

Eligible activities under Business Development (BD) will include: • enhancements to productivity including information and communications technology, energy, new technologies, productivity assessments; • market diversification and/or expansion; • product innovation and/or development • process innovation; • skills training and mentoring to improve competitiveness, facilitate expansion or integrate new processes; • industry cluster development; • business and marketing plans for growing business; • succession planning to ensure long term viability of business; • business start-ups; • supply chain analysis and development; and • any other efforts designed to enhance productivity, increase profitability and generate employment.

• The maximum amount of funding eligible for any commercial enterprise is $100,000 over the period April 1, 2014 – December 31, 2018.

• EODP funding is limited to a maximum of 50% total funding. The balance of expenses may be supported by the applicant, community, other government programming or any other avenue available.

The Eastern Ontario Economic Development Fund is a four year, $80 million fund designed to help businesses create new jobs, and invest in new technologies, equipment or skills training for workers.

Companies can receive reimbursement for 50% of eligible costs, up to a maximum of $200,000 in non-repayable grants to implement capital investment projects that will deliver emission reductions, energy efficiencies and best practices through process and/or product improvement.
