Apart from the presentation of the simplest facts, the author's intent is to provide accurate information, avoiding the bizarre ideas that color the study of the aristocracy. At best, this web page is a ready reference that offers a quick overview and a very concise bibliography; it is intended as nothing more. This page is published for the benefit of the historian, genealogist, heraldist, researcher or journalist – and all scientific freethinkers – in search of an objective, unbiased summary that does not seek (or presume) to insult their knowledge, intelligence or integrity. The study of the nobility and heraldry simply cannot exist without a sound basis in genealogical science. Genealogy is the only means of demonstrating familial lineage (ancestry), be it proven through documentation or DNA, be it aristocratic or humble. At 300 pages, the book Sicilian Genealogy and Heraldry considers the subject in far greater detail over several chapters, and while its chief focus is the Kingdom of Sicily, it takes into account the Kingdom of Italy (1861-1946) as well. That book includes chapters dedicated to, among other things, historiography, feudal law and proof standards. Like this web page, the book (you can peruse the table of contents, index and a few pages on Amazon's site) is the kind of reference and guide the author wishes were available when he began to study these fields seriously over thirty years ago.

  • Statement on the Case Mac Carthy Mór
Published in Geocities on 10th October 1999 STATEMENT ON THE CASE MAC CARTHY MÓR by Dr. Pier Felice degli Uberti AN INTRODUCTION FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW ME Personally I hold to being, within these subjects, a serious person not fond of compromise and who can seperate the validity of scientific documents from a relationship of friendship. In addition I characteristically prefer, rather than to lose time in discussion without conclusions, to transform my dreams into reality by working through concrete objectives. It should be understood that I consider valid SOLELY AND UNIQUELY those official recognitions of honors granted or certified under the Authority of the State (naturally when that existance is competent in the area of genealogy, heraldry and nobility). I understand as COMPETENT State Authority, that to which belongs the Family or person who obtained certain types of recognition. But this is not to say that I believe blindly or totally in the solid validity of an official recognition, because it could be granted by official Entities with various motives... not the least of which is opportunity. Unfortunately, in all Nations, errors and incompetences are numerous (in some countries they are extremely numerous). The method of judging and evaluating documents TODAY has changed and has become a major science: the mythologies are fortunately disappearing... even so, they are dying hard. I remember,(an Italian example) that the UFFICIO ARALDICO is successor of the never abolished CONSULTA ARALDICA and today grants only Coat of Arms for Public Entities. During the Monarchy the REGIA CONSULTA ARALDICA committed various errors, recognizing false genealogies and false titles with measures of justice.

ISSN 2601-8616 (print) European Journal of September-December 2018 ISSN 2601-8624 (online) Education Volume 1, Issue 3 The development of genealogy in Europe, based on the examples of Poland, Italy, Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina Ewa Jurczyk-Romanowska Department of Pedagogy, University of Wroclaw Adnan Tufekčić Department of Pedagogy, University of Tuzla Abstract Amateur genealogy is becoming more and more popular in many countries. Thanks to the development of information and communication technologies, national genealogy has also acquired an international dimension, and websites presenting genealogical data contribute to an exchange of experiences between people from different countries. In this article, the authors traced the development of genealogy in four different countries: Italy, Poland, Turkey, as well as in Bosnia and Hercegovina, focusing primarily on sources of information regarding origin, methods of presentation, genealogy organizations, information exchange portals, and support in genealogical searches. As a result of the analysis, it can be concluded that these four countries - despite numerous differences - developed genealogical activities in a similar way. Keywords: genealogy, origin, root, international exchange of experience and knowledge. Introduction Currently, there is a growing interest in amateur genealogy. Access to archives, the publication of key records on the Internet, as well as the possibility of using genetic tests to search for relatives around the world all facilitate genealogical research. Searching for our roots is one of the elements which contributes to the human identity. The need for family affiliation seems to intensify in our contemporary fragmented society. Additionally, it provides an opportunity for intergenerational dialogue, mutual learning and value transfer.

  • Fons Honorum, Are Not the Central Part of the Decision
EUROPEAN ROYAL HOUSES TJUS HONORUM AND THE "EEACH" by Sanchez Ramirez de Arellano (edited by Guy Stair Sainty) As an habitué of the Caltrap's Corner and Guest book I have been interested in the discussions provoked by the article of Mr. Kinnane "The Emperor of Palm Beach". Unfortunately the debate has degenerated in to mere personal attacks, without serious consideration of the most important aspect of the question: the documents that Mr. de Vigo Paleologo and Doctor Gauci cite in their replies at www.paleologo.com and www.justicier.com and, recently, at http://utenti.tripod.it/HERE/ which is Mr. de Vigo’s official homepage. I have tried to suggest refraining from polemics and instead studying the matter from an impartial viewpoint but, unfortunately, Mr. de Vigo himself seems to prefer to defame his detractors without considering that this will do nothing to end the dispute. I perfectly understand, however, that someone in his position, continuously attacked as he is, would change from being a "great philanthropist" into an embittered avenger. In any case I thank him for his reply and, considering how much luckier I have been than some others I have decided to write this article, whose purpose is to open a new and more direct perspective on this dispute. The great limitation I am under is that like all the critics, I have not the opportunity to see the complete and original documents cited by Mr. de Vigo and Doctor Gauci: the problem is caused by the limitations of the internet and of course we cannot demand that Mr.

  • The Legitimate of Non Reigning Royal Families
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Don Salvatore Ferdinando Antonio Caputo was born in a noble family in 1942 when Italy was a kingdom ruled by the House of Savoy, kings of Italy since the Risorgimento (The Resurgence. The movement for the liberation and political unification of Italy, beginning about 1750 and lasting until 1870), and previously rules of Savoy. However, four years after his birth, monarchy was abolished by popular referendum in June 2, 1946. Italy became a republic. At the age of 15, he was brought up in Canada where after he spends his life traveling worldwide and worked in Brazil, Guatemala and Philippines as a prominent director of multinational Corporations. Since he became conscious of politics, there has not been a president who he felt was a satisfactory symbol of the countries visited, and who he could admire as a focus for non-partisan patriotism. This is essentially why he came to support monarchy…..although his enthusiasm for royalty dates from childhood. He speaks and writes fluently Italian, English, Spanish, and Portuguese, read French and was educated in Italy, Canada and USA. Don Salvatore is a monarchist that believes that a hereditary Monarchy, with a Sovereign, non-corrupt one with religious values and culture and tradition, conducted with immense kindness and whose role was thrust upon him by accident of birth rather than by being a politician, is the most perfect form of government in a nation. Contrary to a Republic's President (like France, USA etc.) the Sovereign will insure the continuity in a time schedule. He/she is always aware about important files and he/she acts to push these files up to their conclusion.
