Pack and Boy Troop 126 2020-2021 Village Mentality Speaker Series Join us for a Talk with Living Black History Saturday, September 12, 2020 2 – 3:30 PM (EST) Meet Distinguished Eagle Scout and NFL Super Bowl XX Champion, Mr. Emery Moorehead Emery Moorehead is a Distinguished Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the first African American to serve as Chairman of the Board North Shore Barrington Board of Realtors, and served as a VP for the NE Illinois Council, BSA from 1988 until 2017. Mr. Moorehead is also an NFL Super Bowl XX Champion, earned while he was a tight end with the Chicago Bears. He was inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 1999. Mr. Moorehead brings his experiences from Scouting into all associations that he is involved in, helping organizations achieve highly-sought accolades. For instance, at the University of Colorado, where he captained the Big 8 Championship football team, he was also an officer of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. In addition to being inducted in the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, he finished his NFL career as the second leading receiver for tight ends in Chicago Bears history, behind Hall of Fame tight end Mike Ditka. In his real estate career firm of Koenig & Strey Real Estate, he was inducted into Koenig and Strey’s elite Presidents Club. He also was awarded the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), a designation held by less than 6% of Realtors in the US. Emery’s 1985 Super Bowl XX team in 2019 was voted the greatest team in the first 100 years of NFL football. Emery Moorehead was raised in Evanston, Illinois and attended college at the University of Colorado, earning a B.A. in Communications. His son, Aaron Moorehead of the Indianapolis Colts, is also an NFL Superbowl Champion. This made Emery and Aaron Moorehead the first father and son team to have both played in and been part of the winning team for the NFL top prize – a Super Bowl Championship. Mr. Moorehead holds the distinction of being one in four Distinguished Eagle Scouts, as well as the only African American Eagle Scout with a Super Bowl Championship in his repertoire. Mr. Moorehead is excited to spend time with Scouts to share his experiences in Scouting, what helped him persevere to Eagle, what his Eagle project was, and how Scouting has played a role in his life’s choices. He’ll also talk about what the Distinguished Eagle Scout (DES) award and how he earned it. Not to mention, how it feels to be the only Super Bowl Champion that is also a DES in his demographic.
