Dairy Queen’s Tree of Hope brings joy to the holiday season

The Abbott House and Bridges by Abbott House children in the Mitchell area beneﬁtted this holiday season from the Tree of Hope located at Mitchell Dairy Queen. Dairy Queen manager Lisa Cattelier had a vision to help children in need and contacted the Abbott House with her idea. It was a huge success! The community and surrounding areas gave back to children in need this year at an overwhelming rate. In fact, we had to continue to add more ornaments and wishes before December even started! Thank you to Lisa, her team, and the community for your generous hearts during a sometimes difﬁcult time in Abbott House children’s lives. Thank you for bringing joy to their lives this holiday season!

The girls are getting more and more creative with their annual pumpkin painting contest!

Some Abbott House girls enjoyed fall days at Reclamation-Ranch in Mitchell, SD, which offers the Spirit Horse Therapeutic Riding program. It has been so beneficial for several of our girls!

6 Around the House

County Fair Food and Fuel teamed up with Abbott House for a fundraiser where the girls help people pump gas or wash windows. It truly is a great opportunity for the kids to get some experience with customer service, community service, and people skills. The girls raised around $500 that day for their education and therapy needs!

Santa and Mrs. Claus visited the Abbott House and Bridges foster homes again this year! They came bearing gifts and sang carols with the girls. It was a fun day!

The girls reflected on some of the things they are thankful for this Thanksgiving.

DWU Athletics have been visiting the Abbott House girls six weeks at a time! The first six weeks was the DWU Volleyball team, followed by the DWU Softball team and currently the DWU Soccer team. They come once a week for six weeks and learn skills and run drills with the girls. It really boosted the girls’ self-esteem and skill level in each sport! Thank you!
